About the city

Guadalajara is the capital of the state of Jalisco and birthplace of many of the national symbols of Mexico, such as  mariachi music, tequila and charrería.  It is the second largest city in Mexico both in population, and in importance.

Over the years, the city has earned a variety of nicknames: "City of Roses", "City of Fountains", "Royal City", or "Pearl of the West". The city offers a harmonious mix of modern urban design, antique architecture, and the cultural legacy of its traditions.
