UP’s Dr. Abraham Mendoza recognized by Penn State as “Graduate of the Last Decade”
Dr. Abraham Mendoza Andrade, Institutional Head of Research at Universidad Panamericana, received the Graduate of the Decade (Gold) Award by the Penn State Industrial and Manufacturing Engineering Society.
This yearly award recognizes an alumnus of the program of Industrial and Manufacturing Engineering who has shown technical and leadership excellence, as well as significant achievements throughout his or her professional career.
The award was formally presented to Dr. Mendoza on May 25, at the Department of Industrial and Manufacturing Engineering at Pennsylvania State University. Present during the ceremony were Terri Green, representing the president of the Penn State Industrial and Manufacturing Engineering Society, Dr. Janis Terpenny, Department Head, Industrial and Manufacturing Engineering, and Dr. José A. Ventura, thesis advisor for Dr. Mendoza.
About Doctor Mendoza Andrade:
Dr. Mendoza is a graduate of the School of Engineering at Universidad Panamericana. He holds a Master’s degree in Sciences and a Doctoral degree in Industrial Engineering and Operations Research from Pennsylvania State University.
Currently, he is the Institutional Head of Research for the UP system. He presides de Institutional Commission for Research at Universidad Panamericana. He was recently named professional of the year by the Institute of Industrial Engineers of Mexico. He is also a co-founding member and Vice-President for International Relations of the Mexican Association of Logistics and Supply Chain.
As a researcher, he studies topics in supply chain optimization, theory of inventories, materials handling and transportation. He has published in scientific journals such as European Journal of Operational Research, International Journal of Production Economics, International Journal of Business and Systems Research, International Journal of Industrial Engineering.
