RESEARCH COLLOQUIUM ORGANIZED BY SCHOOL OF PEDAGOGY
Zapopan, Jalisco; October, 2017.- The School of Pedagogy at Universidad Panamericana campus Guadalajara, carried out a Research Colloquium. The event is part of the institutional strategy to strengthen this important aspect of university life. The Colloquium took place in the Aula Panamericana auditorium, with the aim to present research currently being carried out at the University, principally, in the School of Pedagogy.
Ligia García Béjar, Secretary of Research for the School of Pedagogy, gave the opening speech, quoting Mario Vargas Llosa and his views on culture. Later, she mentioned that through its research strategy, Universidad Panamericana “seeks to build a better society, through influence on relevant issues of visibility in academic production, which is possible thanks to teaching and research, without neglecting the educational pillars that identify us: orientation toward ethics, personalized attention, and work well done. "
Daniela Salgado Gutiérrez, Dean of the School of Pedagogy, stated that the event served to acquire knowledge about the strengths of the participants. This will help the School and its research area to grow.
Dr. Silvia Lizette Ramos de Robles, professor-researcher, specialized in topics of didactics, science, and mathematics, gave the first talk on “Doing educational research in Mexico”. She shared her experience in motivating a new generation to do research, basically, through promoting graduation through a thesis. On finishing her talk, there was time for a dialog between speaker and participants.
Next on the agenda was the presentation of student thesis projects. Bertha Alejandra Cárdenas Castro presented "A curricular proposal for media literacy among elementary students at Colegio Finlandés in the metropolitan area of Guadalajara". Andrea Elizabeth Ramírez Santana presented "Intervention in a classroom with gifted students at the School of Engineering at Universidad Panamericana, campus Guadalajara" and Leticia Castañeda Fletes presented "The influence of technology in the learning of students at the School of Pedagogy, campus Guadalajara".
During the day several other topics related to research were presented, among them the conference of Dr. María Isabel Muñoz Blanco "Emotional induction and academic performance of university students" and a presentation by Julián Ochoa García "Development of research competencies in Postgraduate students of Education Programs in Mexico". Daniela Salgado Gutiérrez presented "Analysis of the family from relational theory" and Ligia García Béjar spoke about "Engagement and consumption of content on audiovisual platforms in young Mexicans".
To conclude the event, Dr. Josefina Santana Villegas, who is a professor-researcher at the UP School of Communication, spoke about "Factors influencing the learning of a second language in university students".
