International Day of Women and Girls in Science
Last Saturday, February 10, women and girls of all ages gathered at the Descubre Museum in "Women and Girls in Science", an event organized by the Institute of Science and Technology of the State of Aguascalientes (INCyTEA), where they gave testimony of the talent, recognition and dedication they have had throughout history.
Two of our Artificial Intelligence Engineering students participated in our Panamericana: Paty Yarely López Méndez and Constanza Corvera Zambrana, and Dr. Claudia Nallely Sánchez Gómez, Research Secretary of the School of Engineering.
Alumnae and researchers
Our students and researcher, supported with their valuable participation in the workshop "Hidden Messages and Towers of Hanoi" aimed at high school students, which consisted of introducing initial concepts of cryptography where the girls were shown how messages can be generated by changing letters for other symbols; in addition to performing logical reasoning activities with Towers of Hanoi.
"It is important to contribute a grain of sand so that the girls and young women of Aguascalientes know the STEM areas (Science, Technology, Energy and Mathematics). From our point of view, we believe that there is little participation of women in these areas due to lack of knowledge or because we consider that we are not good. However, having experiences in STEM activities or workshops allows girls to realize that they can, and in their case, explore these areas and opportunities a little more," says the doctor.
