Great Participation by UP Students in the National Outdoor Archery National Competition

The National Outdoor Archery National Competition was held in the city of Monterrey, in which Brenda María González de Alba, a sixth semester student of Innovation and Design Engineering, and Julio César Torres Marín, an eighth semester student of Artificial Intelligence Engineering, participated.

Both students had a very good performance during the competition, where our student Brenda Gonzalez was champion in the free category, while Julio Torres was among the top 30 in the men's category.

"I like archery because I feel that it is a time that I dedicate 100% to myself, to improve my technique, my shooting sensation. I like it for the fact that it is a sport that depends only on me. I can't blame it on anyone else," Brenda mentions.

She also told us about her spirit and desire to win during her time in the competition, at the same time that she felt joy because she knew she would give her best. She knows that it is not easy to win, but by deciding and projecting her goals to herself, she is already one step closer to achieving them.

On the other hand, for Julio Cesar, what he likes most about this sport is that he considers it very elegant, where constancy, respect and discipline are very important if you want to master the technique.

"I had an amazing experience, it has been a long time since I had traveled to a competition accompanied by a team as strong and experienced as the Aguascalientes team, all my teammates received me in a very nice way, which made my performance and experience in the competition even better than I expected", this is what Julio Cesar told us about his experience in the competition.

At the same time he described how he felt personally, saying that during the first days of the competition he had to learn to control his nerves and get used to the different shooting range in Monterrey. But in the end he felt proud to be able to demonstrate his growth and learning with only a year and a half practicing the sport of archery. Julio Cesar also thanked his coach Rodolfo Gonzalez for the great preparation he gave him, and equally to all his teammates for their great support and contagious passion, which made the competition an unforgettable experience for him.

Finally, Brenda and Julio Cesar told us a little bit about what is for them the most challenging part of this great sport, being some things to know how to control their emotions, this because archery is a little different from other sports that instead of being euphoric you have to be with temperance, decision and know that arrow shot arrow forgotten; On the other hand there is also the constant readaptation to the different external factors that influence the arrows, since there is never a lack of a change of air current, a strong rain or something that they are not used to in their training environment.
