Master’s in the History of Thought

The Master’s program in the History of Thought seeks to provide an interdisciplinary formation which will influence the different professional spheres of our alumni, through the study of human sciences.

Specifically, participants will acquire the particular knowledge of each field of study, develop capacity for critical analysis and synthesis of culture in its different elements, obtain methodological abilities to generate disciplinary synergies and value the importance of human sciences.

The Master’s in History of Thought is open to graduates of any field or discipline who have developed the following competencies: analysis and synthesis, organization and planning, information management, problem solving and decision making, interdisciplinary teamwork, critical thinking, ethical commitment, initiative and creativity, leadership, sensitivity to the humanities and autonomous learning.

Perfil de egreso

Through the program, the participants, with the help of their tutors, perfect their competencies and develop knowledge, skills, and attitudes, such as the following:


Knowledge of history of human thought, arts and aesthetics, political history and political theory, anthropology, world literature and literary theory, history of science and theory of science, history of philosophy, foundations of religion.


Research skills in the field of history of human thought, developing academic publications and dissemination of humanities, teaching at the secondary and tertiary level, joint interdisciplinary humanistic knowledge, direction and execution of interdisciplinary research projects, development of strategies aimed at promoting humanistic knowledge in academic, cultural or government institutions, analysis of contemporary culture based on knowledge of classical culture.


Attitudes about scientific rigor in the study and presentation of the history of thought, assessment of interdisciplinary work, on research and teaching habits, on sources of human thought, intellectual openness to foster dialogue between science and humanities, critical attitude to reception, creation and transmission of knowledge, performance with a high sense of ethics in their profession and contribution to the common good and an attitude of service.

The thesis is a written work derived from research on a field of knowledge or the amplification of the state of the art in a specific field. The work must be carried out with methodological rigor according to the field.


Professional Activity Report


The Professional Activity Report is a written work which covers in an organized and systematic manner, the experience of a work activity in any sphere of professional work: school, company, community, among others. To this end, theoretical-practical competencies are required, as well as research skills at a Master’s level.


Publication in a refereed journal

To opt for this modality, consult the coordinator on the procedure for publishing in a peer-reviewed journal.
