Zapopan, Jalisco; May 24, 2018- The Department of Engineering in Innovation and Design of the UP Guadalajara campus organized an outreach project with Liverpool department stores.

This project consisted of a contest where 15 teams participated in designing innovative housewares. The winning product will be manufactured and distributed by the department store chain Liverpool.

The activities carried out were part of the sixth semester course Aesthetic Design Workshop with the aim of positioning Mexican design, through the talent of the students, in stores such as Liverpool.

The designs are focused on a young market, as explained by Priscila Cordero Ramírez, Senior Buyer of the Furniture Area; mainly for people who are furnishing a new space.

Among the criteria taken into account was whether the designs are part of the trends observed in the market, both nationally and internationally. "The proposal of the students in terms of materials, design and prices should be according to what we are looking for," mentioned the Senior Buyer in this regard.

The competition sought to maintain the essence of Mexican design in synergy with global trends.

The course work consisted of several stages, from conceptual development, to interviews with suppliers and staff of Liverpool stores. The final phase was held during the event, in which the Purchasing Department chose and announced the winner.

The winning collection was "Taupe" by the students Alexa Ochoa and Ana Paula Vizcaíno who, in addition to the sale and distribution of their furniture by Liverpool, will have the opportunity to present their collection at an exhibition in Mexico City

Congratulations to the winners, and to all the participants!
