ENGINEERING STUDENT TAKES PART OF THE MILAN FASHION WEEK PRODUCTION
ZAPOPAN, Jalisco; September 23, 2019.-
“When someone asks me how did I get here, I answer it was a mix of luck to get the opportunity and, once I had it, a lot of work to earn a place,” said Hugo.
Hugo Velázquez Vargas is a second-semester student of Engineering in Innovation and Design at the Universidad Panamericana Campus Guadalajara. He is an enthusiast and committed young man, who’s been part, for four years, of the Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week production in Mexico, as well as other fashion platforms like Mexico Bridal Fashion and Mexico Fashion Show; during this years he’s been played a role in production and operation within those platforms.
This year he had the opportunity to attend the Milan Fashion Week, with the main goal of scouting and bringing fresh and innovative ideas for the fashion platforms in Mexico. His work before the event consists of the production, assembly coordination, and building relationships with suppliers and brands. During the event, he coordinates all the aspects inside the runway and the shopping area.
“It was an incredible experience because I got to live up close the work behind production for international brands fashion shows and generate networking with giants of that magnitude,” explained.
His career has allowed him to solve quickly and effectively the incidents presented. Besides, he has developed a design and engineering approach that allows him to reach a solution creatively and functionally for every aspect of the runway.
“The UP has supported me from the beginning in several ways so that I can perform both: the university and my work; also, thanks to being in these events, I have built a network of contacts that have helped me several times in my studies,” he concluded.
The Universidad Panamericana and the Faculty of Engineering are proud to see their students fulfill their dreams, putting into practice the knowledge acquired during their careers.
