Universidad Panamericana has taken a major step forward in its technological transformation strategy with the official launch of the Center for Innovation and Technological Development (CINOV), aimed at transforming knowledge generated in classrooms and laboratories into real-world solutions that enhance the competitiveness of the productive sector in Mexico and globally.
The launch took place simultaneously across the institution’s three campuses (Mexico City, Guadalajara, and Aguascalientes), consolidating a cross-campus operation that brings together the talent of more than 220 researchers.
Humanistic Purpose-Driven Applied Research
CINOV was created to strengthen technology transfer, ensuring that academic knowledge transcends theory and becomes innovation with tangible economic and social impact.
During the launch, Dr. Sergio Velázquez Rodríguez, Vice President for Research, emphasized that scientific knowledge reaches its highest value when it serves society and contributes to human well-being.

Similarly, Dr. Fernanda Llergo, President of the UP-IPADE, highlighted the essence of the initiative: “Innovation only makes sense when it improves people’s lives and contributes to the common good.”

Three Strategic Pillars for Mexico’s Development
CINOV has defined three priority areas:
1. Agri-food Industry
2. Flexible Manufacturing
3. Health Technologies
To address these sectors, the center will leverage cutting-edge tools such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), the Internet of Things (IoT), collaborative robotics, digital twins, and smart materials, all within a sustainability and circular economy framework.
An Agile Collaboration Model: Research Cells
According to Dr. Hiram Ponce Espinosa, Director of CINOV, the center will operate through “Research Cells”—multidisciplinary teams composed of researchers and students who support companies from problem diagnosis to solution implementation.

This model reduces innovation risks for organizations, facilitates technological modernization, and strengthens academia–industry collaboration.

A Strategic Alliance: Academia, Industry, and Government
The launch event included representatives from both the public and private sectors, who agreed that CINOV represents a paradigm shift in collaborative technological development.

Public Sector: In Guadalajara, Ms. Fanny Valdivia (Jalisco Ministry of Innovation) reaffirmed the government’s support for advancing science.
Private Sector: Mr. Cristopher Olivares Mendoza, Director of Innovation and Entrepreneurship at Grupo Vitalmex; Mr. Marco Bueno Silva, Director of KOBNEX; Eng. Miguel Ángel Mendoza, Associate Director at NIMO Capital; and Mr. Hugo Germán Ramírez Vences, Commercial Manager at Empacadora de Carne San Francisco, emphasized the importance of moving beyond parallel efforts between universities and industry to jointly build the future.
Looking Ahead: A Vision for the Future
With a 10-year vision, the CINOV of Universidad Panamericana aims to become an international benchmark in innovation, technology transfer, and the generation of patents and spin-offs, strengthening the institution’s academic leadership and contributing to Mexico’s economic development.
Through this initiative, Universidad Panamericana reaffirms its commitment to applied research, technological innovation, and the productive transformation of the country, consolidating its role as a bridge between science and national industry.
