Spark UP Academy was born as an initiative of the Universidad Panamericana campus Guadalajara with the objective of providing tools, transferring specialist knowledge, updating and professional growth to the community through asynchronous and synchronous online courses. Thus favoring the development and strengthening of professional, business and personal skills of all its users through all academic areas of the university. It also aims to encourage entrepreneurship through Spark UP, Panamericana's business incubator and accelerator, focused on strengthening national and international entrepreneurship.
"Since the pandemic, we saw the need to have a positive impact on the general public in a virtual way, as there are topics or tools that the labour market demands and that are difficult to acquire through an academic degree," said Monica Hermosillo, director of Spark UP.
The programmes designed within Spark Up Academy are focused on strengthening online education through current topics, in constant innovation and attached to the needs that the labour market demands. We offer short, affordable and flexible courses that encourage the strengthening of active learning through case studies and feedback from our speakers. The topics of greatest interest are: entrepreneurship, business, finance, accounting, personal development and information technology. For this reason, the following synchronous courses have been implemented to date: Corporate Law Diploma, Alumni Refresher Seminar, Applied Social Responsibility Seminar, Workshop for engaged couples, Introduction to the Holy Scriptures and Marriage and Family Accreditation. In addition to the above, the asynchronous courses completed were: Introduction to Negotiation, Basic Baking and UP Innovation Awards Award Event.
Currently, there are more than 300 active users and the following asynchronous courses are in progress: Applied Social Responsibility, Practical Guide for Innovation, Time Management for Goal Fulfilment, Personal Resilience and Business Resilience.
The objective of this new project is "to be a platform that supports people, professionals or companies that need to improve or develop specific skills to have better professional opportunities (...); all this facilitating access to high-level education with the support and support of the professors of the Universidad Panamericana." explained the director of Spark UP.
