Carlos Diego Arenas Pacheco is an educational historian and a full-time professor and researcher at the Universidad Panamericana. He holds a Ph.D. and a master’s degree in Medieval Studies from the University of Notre Dame and a bachelor’s degree in Philosophy from La Salle University.
His research focuses on the history of education, colonial education, boarding schools for Indigenous children, Indigenous literature, and the reception of the classics, with a special emphasis on educational and intellectual practices that developed in Europe, the Americas, and Asia during the 15th, 16th, and 17th centuries. He works with archival sources and texts produced by European authors as well as by Nahua, Quechua, Tagalog, Chinese, and Japanese intellectuals. He has also researched topics in contemporary education, particularly lifelong learning. He has published in *History of Education Quarterly*, *Revista de Historia*, and the *Journal of World Literature*, and has participated in international conferences and academic projects. He has been a fellow at the John Carter Brown Library, the Newberry Library, and the National Academy of Education/Spencer Foundation. At the Universidad Panamericana , he teaches courses in the areas of Philosophy and History of Education and supervises research projects.
