Aguascalientes, Aguascalientes; September 9, 2026.— In a landscape where education demands professionals capable of making an impact beyond the classroom, the Aguascalientes campus of theUniversidad Panamericana . has relaunched one of its flagship degree programs with a new vision: the Bachelor’s Degree in Pedagogy and Strategic Transformation.
The new program strengthens areas such as leadership, innovation, technology, entrepreneurship, and social impact, without losing sight of the humanistic education that has characterized the institution.
The transformation stems from a process of analysis and updating in which Paola Barba Segovia, M.A., dean of the School of Education and Psychology, and Julieta Jiménez Cruz, Ph.D., academic secretary of the School, participated; Dr. Jiménez Cruz led the effort to review and structure the new curriculum.
A New Vision for the Bachelor's Degree in Education
To develop the proposal, a feasibility study was conducted that analyzed programs at other universities, trends in the field, employability, and the current needs of educational institutions and organizations.
The goal was to identify the direction in which the profession is heading and what skills an educator needs today to address real-world challenges.
Dr. Jiménez Cruz explained that, although the program had undergone adjustments over the years, the current plan formally dated back to 2010. Consequently, beginning in 2024, a comprehensive evaluation was undertaken that made it possible to redefine the graduate profile and update the program’s curriculum.
“It’s not that we changed everything overnight, but rather that we conducted a review in which we updated the content and reoriented the graduate profile,” the professor said.
This is how “Pedagogy and Strategic Transformation” came into being—an approach that places greater emphasis on strategic thinking, leadership, and management, while retaining the philosophical and epistemological foundations inherent to the profession.
Education Beyond the Classroom
During the relaunch ceremony, Ms. Barba Segovia specifically highlighted the need to broaden the understanding of this profession. She noted that educators have the potential to make an impact not only in educational institutions but also in businesses, human talent management and development, public policy, social organizations, and educational technology.
“The pedagogy of the future goes beyond the traditional classroom,” said the dean, explaining that the challenge lies in evolving from a traditional view of the profession toward a profile capable of directing, leading, and measuring its impact across various sectors.
The new program lasts eight semesters and includes areas of study related to:
- Educational and Curricular Innovation.
- Educational Intervention and Human Development.
- Foresight, leadership, and management.
- Educational planning, research, and evaluation.
- Innovation and Entrepreneurship.
- Social Impact and Sustainability.
- Pedagogical and Philosophical Thought.
Innovation, Professional Development, and Internationalization
Another new feature is a personal and professional development track that will guide students from identifying their calling to building their graduate profile.
In addition, it will offer flexible curricular options that will allow students to take specific courses, earn certifications, and participate in experiences tailored to their individual interests, as well as laboratories for pedagogical innovation and seminars on applied pedagogy and educational technology.
In addition, the program is committed to internationalization. The degree program already offers a dual-degree option in France and is exploring new opportunities for international collaboration, including with Nebrija University in Spain.
37 Years of Teaching at the Aguascalientes “ Universidad Panamericana ” School
This renewal takes on special significance given the history of the Pedagogy program in Aguascalientes. It was one of the six bachelor's degree programs offered by the then-Bonaterra University when it was founded in 1989, making it a program with 37 years of history on campus.
According to the dean, this evolution is grounded in a “humanistic, scientific, and ethical” profile, but one that is equipped to diagnose, plan, innovate, and respond to contemporary challenges.
Along the same lines, Dr. Jiménez Cruz summarized the educational commitment of this new phase. “Pedagogy combines ethics with scientific knowledge, strategic vision, and values, ” without losing sight of the fact that its central focus remains education.
Through “Pedagogy and Strategic Transformation,” the Aguascalientes School of Education ( Universidad Panamericana ) is updating one of its founding degree programs to address new challenges in education, expand opportunities for professional engagement, and train educators capable of making an impact from a strategic, humanistic, and ethical perspective.
