Zapopan, Jalisco; September 4, 2026.— The Guadalajara campus of theUniversidad Panamericana will bid farewell to Dr. Pablo Sahagún, professor of theological anthropology, who will travel to Rome to answer his divine calling and be ordained as a priest. 

Her story brings together teaching, the search for truth, and a living relationship with God. Through her testimony, she shares how faith, spiritual guidance, and service can become a way of life.

Trust in His faith and His path

His path has not been a straightforward one, much less free of doubts. He began his young adulthood by studying civil engineering in Germany and later pursuing a Ph.D. in philosophy. These experiences led him to decide between joining the family business or pursuing a career in teaching. Ultimately, Dr. Pablo Sahagún chose the Universidad Panamericana, drawn by the institution’s values, to educate young people and introduce them to history and their own faith—convinced that this is part of his mission.

At 38 years old, he shares his experience of always having had this connection to Opus Dei, maintaining a living relationship with God as a numerary for more than 20 years. 

His reflection debunks the myth that dedication and one’s spiritual calling stem from an “idea of perfection”—the belief that one is sufficient in oneself and acts as a divine instrument—but rather, from a spiritual relationship: “God is the love of my life. It is for Him that I live and want to live. “The priesthood is a way to give concrete expression to that devotion,” he affirms, in addition to accompanying others in their daily lives as part of his academic community. “Life always presents human beings with trials and joys. The important thing is to learn to experience them with faith, ”he shares.

Truth in the Face of the Priestly Vow and the Divine Call

His testimony, full of reality and human wisdom, does not seek to be perfect or to claim the privilege reserved for those who are “ready” for perpetual peace. Today, with great humility, he shares that this is a misconception; life always envelops human beings in temptations, stress, sadness, and also the good earthly joys of this world. “The priesthood is for living people, human beings of this world,” he clarifies. That is when the path to faith is the answer.

Dr. Pablo Sahagún extends special thanks to his spiritual guide, who helped him find clarity in times of uncertainty. “Sometimes you don’t know where you’re going, but faith teaches you to trust even when you can’t see the whole path,” he reflects. Before leaving, he invited the university community to emulate that trust and to give their hearts with the same openness with which he has responded to his calling.

For this reason, he especially encourages young people to seek out people who can walk alongside them on their journey, share their concerns, and help them find guidance in times of uncertainty.

In Rome, a year of spiritual formation awaits him—to serve the Church and accompany people in their faith, deepening his relationship with God, who has always guided him to be of service—a further extension of his educational mission: to teach, accompany, and form people through love. As he nears the end of his preparation, he will help guide others just as he was once guided. 

Journey to the Origin

The university community bids him farewell with gratitude, recognizing his faith in the Lord.

His departure for Rome marks the beginning of a new chapter, with the hope that, upon his return to Guadalajara, he will be able to celebrate his first Mass at the Church of Our Lady of the Assumption ( Universidad Panamericana ) and share this meaningful moment with the university community.
