Mexico City, August 13, 2026. – The Universidad Panamericana and the Mexican Academy of Communication (AMDC) presented the First Mexico Comunica 2026–2027Biennial Emerging Digital Technologies for Creative Innovation in Communication in Mexico, an initiative aimed at young Mexicans developing innovative projects in communication and technology with social, cultural, educational, or technological impact.
The announcement was made during the signing of a General Collaboration Agreement between the University of the Andes ( Universidad Panamericana ) and the AMDC, which will help strengthen academic training, research, innovation, and ties with the media, the business sector, and society.
Prior to the ceremony, officials from both institutions held a working meeting led by Dr. Lidia Camacho, president of the AMDC; Dr. Guillermo Tenorio, vice president of the Universidad Panamericana; and Dr. Mariano Navarro, who was dean of the School of Communication at the time.

During the meeting, they exchanged views on the challenges facing the field of communication in the face of digital transformation and the importance of preparing new generations of professionals to respond to this situation.
Technology and Communication with Social Impact
The First Mexico Comunica Biennial is open to young Mexicans between the ages of 18 and 35, whether they live in Mexico or abroad. They may submit projects developed over the past two years that incorporate solutions with a social, cultural, educational, or technological impact.
Proposals may be submitted in five categories:
- Health Communication.
- Communication and Sports.
- Communication, Cultural and Creative Industries and Economies.
- Communication, Digital Citizenship, and Social Transformation.
- Communication and Innovative Journalism.
Participants will be able to incorporate tools such as generative and agent-based artificial intelligence, 5G and 6G networks, virtual, augmented, and extended reality (VR, AR, and XR), blockchain, cybersecurity, big data, advanced analytics, and transmedia storytelling, among other emerging technologies.
Dr. Guillermo Tenorio, vice president of the Universidad Panamericana, highlighted the partnership’s potential to connect the talent of new generations with concrete challenges.
“This partnership strengthens the Mexico Comunica Biennial, an initiative that recognizes emerging talent and invites young people to respond with imagination and rigor to real-world challenges as diverse as health, journalism, sports, the creative industries, and transformation,”he said.

For her part, Dr. Lidia Camacho, president of the Mexican Academy of Communication, emphasized the importance of keeping people at the center of technological transformation.
“Communication has always been the bridge that connects knowledge with society. Today, that bridge is built with new technologies, but it continues to rest on the same pillars: truth, creativity, responsibility, and dialogue,”he said.

A prize pool of 100,000 pesos
The projects will be evaluated by an international panel of judges composed of experts in communication, technological innovation, and digital transformation, who will assess their originality, social impact, creativity, and feasibility.
The Biennial will award a total prize fund of 100,000 pesos:
- First place: 50,000 pesos and a certificate.
- Second place: 30,000 pesos and a certificate.
- Third place: 20,000 pesos and a certificate.
In addition, the AMDC will seek to connect the finalist projects with incubators, accelerators, investors, and industry experts in order to support their development and scaling.
Training in AI and Emerging Technologies
The Mexico Comunica Biennial also features a continuing education program developed by the National Institute of Communication ( Universidad Panamericana ) and the Mexican Academy of Communication.
The program will include workshops, seminars, and conferences on artificial intelligence, strategic communication, digital marketing, the creative industries, audiovisual production, and emerging technologies.
In addition, as part of the 25th anniversary of the Mexican Academy of Communication, a series of videoconferences will be held with national and international experts to analyze the changes and challenges facing the contemporary media ecosystem.
When is the deadline for the Mexico Comunica Biennial?
The call for projects will remain open until January 2027. The evaluation will take place between February and March, and the awards ceremony will be held in April 2027 as part of the AMDC’s anniversary celebrations.
With the announcement of the First Mexico Comunica Biennial, the National Institute of Communication ( Universidad Panamericana ) is strengthening its ties with organizations in the sector and creating new opportunities to foster young talent, innovation in communication, and the responsible use of emerging digital technologies.
The initiative also reinforces both institutions' commitment to communication that can address today's social and technological challenges through creativity, research, innovation, and responsibility.
