“Dr. Francisco Javier Estrada Mena earned a Master of Science degree (UNAM) and a Ph.D. in Chemical and Biological Sciences (IPN). During his doctoral studies, he received a scholarship from the Association Française contre les Myopathies (AFM) for his research on the retina in Paris, France. Since 1997, he has worked at the Universidad Panamericana Mexico), where he has been a professor in the Faculty of Health Sciences. In addition, he is a Level 2 member of the National System of Researchers (CONACyT). He was awarded an honorable mention for his doctoral work by the ENCB-IPN. He is a member of the academic committee for the International Master’s in Vision Sciences program at Sorbonne Université-UNAM. He has publications in Scopus-indexed scientific journals such as the International Journal of Molecular Sciences and Genes, among others. His research interests include: the molecular basis of age-related macular degeneration and glaucoma; pharmacogenetics and proteomics of breast cancer and eye diseases.
