Dr. Francisco Javier Estrada Mena earned a Master of Science degree (UNAM) and a Ph.D. in Chemical and Biological Sciences (IPN).
During his doctoral studies, he received a fellowship from the Association Française contre les Myopathies (AFM) for his research on the retina in Paris, France.
Since 1997, he has worked at the National Autonomous University of Mexico ( Universidad Panamericana ), where he has been a professor in the School of Health Sciences. He is also a Level 2 member of the National System of Researchers (CONACyT).
He received an honorable mention for his doctoral degree from ENCB-IPN. He is a member of the academic committee for the International Master's Program in Vision Sciences at Sorbonne Université-UNAM.
He has published articles in scientific journals indexed in Scopus, such as the *International Journal of Molecular Sciences* and *Genes*, among others.
His research interests: the molecular basis of age-related macular degeneration and glaucoma; pharmacogenetics and proteomics of breast cancer and eye diseases.
