María Teresa Nicolás Gavilán holds a PhD in Communication and a Master's degree in Social and Political Sciences from the University of Navarra, Spain, and a law degree from the Universidad Panamericana, Mexico. During her doctoral studies, she received the Queen Sofia scholarships from Spain and the Government of Navarra for her outstanding academic performance.
He has additional professional training from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), the IESE Business School (Spain) and the Instituto Panamericano de Alta Dirección de Empresas (IPADE, Mexico).
Since 2009 she has worked at the Universidad Panamericana, Campus Mexico, where she has been director of Graduate Studies and of the Bachelor's Degree in Communication, as well as Academic Vice-Rector and Vice-Rector of Educational Innovation. Currently, she directs the Institutional Center for Educational Innovation of the Rector's Office.
He is a member of the National System of Researchers (SNI) of Mexico since 2011, currently at Level II. He has done research and teaching stays at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem (Israel), Villanova University (USA), Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore (Milan, Italy) and Wyższa Szkoła Kultury Społecznej i Medialnej (Poland).
Since 2015 he is part of the management team of the Ethics of Society and Media Group of the International Association of Media and Communication Research (IAMCR), where he has coordinated several workshops, preconferences and postconferences. He is also a member of the International Communication Association (ICA) and a full member of the Mexican Academy of Communication.
His most recent book is "Emotional Analysis in Multiplatform Serial Fiction" and he has published in several scientific journals indexed in Scopus, such as Revista Mediterránea de Comunicación, Media Watch, El Profesional de la Información, Revista de Comunicación and Journal of Business Ethics Education.
