Dr. David E. Salinas-Navarro is a research professor in the School of Engineering at the Universidad Panamericana, Mexico City, and an associate fellow at the Centre for Systems Studies at the University of Hull, United Kingdom. He holds a Ph.D. in Business and Management Systems from the University of Lincoln in the United Kingdom, a master’s degree in Business Administration from the Tecnológico de Monterrey in Mexico, and a specialization in Learning and Teaching in Higher Education with Distinction from Aston University in the United Kingdom.
With more than 25 years of international academic experience in Mexico and the United Kingdom, Dr. Salinas-Navarro specializes in operations management, systems thinking, and experiential learning. His research focuses on strengthening individual and collective learning, as well as organizational viability and performance, through the improvement of systems, processes, and operations. He directs The Action Lab at the Universidad Panamericana, a research initiative focused on experiential learning and community engagement, and is responsible for research on projects related to short supply chains for traditional foods in artisanal agri-food systems.
Dr. Salinas Navarro is a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (SFHEA) and a Certified Management Business Educator (CMBE) in the United Kingdom. He is a member of Mexico’s National System of Researchers (SNII Level 1) in the area of teaching methods. He is also a member of the Educational Innovation Group of the MIT SCALE Network in Latin America and of the Operational Research Society UK, where he serves as co-coordinator of the community operations research branch. His contributions to educational innovation have been recognized with the Silver Award in the 2018 QS Reimagine Education Competition and the Best Paper Award at the 2022 IEEE EDUNINE Conference.
His extensive publication record includes numerous articles in Q1 and Q2-indexed journals on experiential learning, systems thinking, and short supply chains, as well as books and edited chapters on active learning and authentic assessment. Through his research, Dr. Salinas Navarro brings extensive experience in developing individual and collective capabilities in learning and organizational performance.
