Professor Hiram Ponce received his Master’s degree in Engineering Sciences and his Ph.D. in Computer Science from Tecnológico de Monterrey in 2010 and 2013, respectively. Since 2014, he has been working at the Universidad Panamericana , Mexico Campus, where he has served as a Tenured Research Professor (Level D) in the School of Engineering, as well as Coordinator of the Ph.D. program in Artificial Intelligence. He currently serves as Secretary of Research.
He is also a member of the National System of Researchers, Level 1 (as designated by the National Council for Science and Technology). In 2014, he was awarded the “National Prize for Best Doctoral Thesis on Artificial Intelligence” by the Mexican Society for Artificial Intelligence. In 2017, he won the “Google Research Award.”
He has published more than 120 articles in prestigious journals and conference proceedings, as well as 4 books and 9 book chapters. His research interests include artificial intelligence, robotics, mechatronics, and assistive technologies.
