Mexico City, July 24, 2026.— The all-girls high school at the Universidad Panamericana held a graduation ceremony for the 37 students of the Class of 2023–2026, who completed their high school education following a program of academic, personal, and spiritual development.
The ceremony brought together families, teachers, and university officials to recognize the graduates’ hard work and highlight prepaUP’s commitment to training women leaders who serve society.
Gratitude and Faith: The Foundations of the UP Woman
The celebration began with a Mass of Thanksgiving at the Santo Domingo de Guzmán Mixcoac parish, presided over by Fr. Jorge Larracilla, as part of the Solemnity of the Sacred Heart of Jesus.
During the homily, the chaplain highlighted the role of families and the " Universidad Panamericana " in shaping women with Christian values, inviting the graduates to build a life guided by five fundamental virtues:
- A heart of prayer: May it always remain close to Jesus.
- A Heart Capable of Sacrifice: Following Christ's Example.
- A Merciful Heart: May charity flourish and indifference be banished.
- A pure and clean heart.
- A faithful heart: Determined to go against the grain, to remain true to his beliefs, and not to be swayed by environments hostile to the faith.
Education as a Life Choice
Speaking on behalf of her class, Miranda Wiechers Lazo, a prospective student at the Law School of the Universidad Panamericana, reflected on the significance of education as a process that transforms lives beyond the acquisition of knowledge.
“Choosing prepaUP wasn’t just an academic decision; it was a choice that set us on a path toward an education grounded in values and the fundamental skills needed to meet tomorrow’s challenges. […] Education isn’t just about what we know, but about who we choose to become as a result,” the student shared.
For her part, Dr. María José García Castillejos, principal of the girls’ high school, quoted the poet Pablo Neruda to illustrate that the completion of this stage is like looking at the foundation of a house under construction.
She thanked the students for their perseverance, their ideas, and the mutual impact they experienced during their stay: “Thank you for allowing us to witness your transformation firsthand and to be transformed ourselves through the new experiences of each day.”
Radiant Women Dedicated to Serving Others
One of the most significant moments was the diploma ceremony for the 37 graduates, presided over by Dr. Santiago García Álvarez, president of the Universidad Panamericana ’s Mexico City campus.
During her address, she encouraged the future college students to continue developing their character through discipline, responsibility, punctuality, and service to others, reminding them that true leadership stems from small, everyday acts.
He also delivered a message that gave meaning to the ceremony:
“Wherever you go, be radiant women—women who bring joy, who encourage, who inspire, who say ‘yes’… because, as St. Josemaría Escrivá said: ‘To be happy, you don’t need a comfortable life, but a heart in love,’” concluded Dr. García Álvarez.
