Zapopan, Jalisco; June 19, 2024.- As part of its ongoing commitment to being a socially responsible university, the Guadalajara campus has integrated a project dedicated to social service into its social service programs. Universidad Panamericana campus Guadalajara has integrated into its social service programs a project dedicated to promoting environmental promoting ecological awareness through the green adoption of trees and plants on campus.

Plantando Vida: Green Adoption on Campus

On October 4, 2023, a tree and plant adoption event was held on campus. A total of 468 members of the university community joined this noble cause, adopting 700 trees and plants. Among the species adopted were 100 tabachines, 100 elephant's feet, 100 durantas, 100 marias bonitas, 100 listones, 100 ferns and 100 liriope.

Adoption was done on an individual basis, allowing each participant to choose between 1 and 2 species. Of the total number of adopters, 353 were students, 101 were staff and faculty, 7 were alumni and 7 were people from outside the university.

This project is an effort to promote a culture of ecological awareness within the university community. Through these actions, we seek to motivate students, administrative, academic and operational personnel, and all members of the community to protect the ecosystem through daily practices that promote a sustainable lifestyle.

The Universidad Panamericana campus Guadalajara is grateful for the kind and valuable support of the Government of Zapopan and the Directorate of Parks and Gardens of Zapopan with the donation of 700 trees and plants, allowing us to promote environmental care and strengthen ecological awareness in our community.
