ZAPOPAN, Jalisco; July 3, 2024.- The Universidad Panamericana Campus Guadalajara is pleased to announce that the research professor of the School of Pedagogy and Psychology, Julian Ochoa Garcia, has achieved his PhD in Documentation Sciences at the Complutense University of Madrid through his thesis entitled "Research competencies in doctoral students in Mexico".

During his doctoral research, Dr. Julián Ochoa devoted himself to a detailed and exhaustive study of the competencies needed for successful graduate studies. Using a qualitative approach, he concluded that library and librarian support and information management are crucial to the development of these competencies.
Obtaining this doctorate not only represents an academic achievement, but also brings with it a remarkable sense of pride for Dr. Julian Ochoa Garcia. "It is a very good experience that leaves you with a lot of learnings that at the same time you can transmit to your students and colleagues in a clearer, more grounded way and helps them not to go through unnecessarily unpleasant or difficult things as such " , he commented.
Relevance of your research
With his thesis "Research competencies in doctoral students in Mexico", Dr. Ochoa explored how these competencies are essential not only for doctoral students, but for all levels of education, from high school to graduate school.
"The application of my research is relevant to all educational areas .. Information literacy including research skills is required. This competency is not only vital at the local level in Mexico, but has aglobal reach," he said.
Challenges along the way
Dr. Ochoa García faced several adversitiesduring his doctoral career, especially in terms of time management and the dedication necessary to balance his academic, family and professional responsibilities.
"Suddenly it is said out there that when you are doing a PhD, you disappear from family, social and professional life, and in some aspect it is true. However, it is crucial to learn to live with this experience, as it involves intense work and constant dedication," he confessed.
Looking to the future, Dr. Ochoa Garcia plans to continue his research, exploring new areas such as the integration of artificial intelligence into the educational research process.
Finally, Dr. Ochoa Garcia left a piece of advice for the university community: "Research is not only an academic task, it is an essential skill to solve problems in all areas of life.Research is not only an academic task, it is an essential skill to solve problems in all areas of life..
