Mexico City, April 20, 2026.— In a development that strengthens the international profile of the Universidad Panamericana the Center for Innovation and Technological Development (CINOV), Dr. Julieta Domínguez Soberanes, a faculty member at our university and leader of CINOV’s Agri-Food Industry Unit, has been appointed by two major international organizations to serve on their boards of directors.
These appointments, which reflect his leadership, commitment to science, and strategic vision, represent a significant opportunity to strengthen the standing of our institution and CINOV within the global innovation ecosystem.
Awards in Food Science and Technology
First, Dr. Domínguez was appointedAcademic Coordinator and member of the Women in Science Committeeon the2026–2028 Board of the IFT Mexico Section, which is part of the Institute of Food Technologists (IFT), one of the most prestigious organizations in the field of food science and technology worldwide.

This appointment, highlighted by the industry publication The Food Tech®, underscores his leadership and commitment to scientific and technological development in Mexico’s agri-food sector.

“For me, this appointment represents a great responsibility and, at the same time, a strategic opportunity to influence academic training and the promotion of female talent within the field of food science and technology,” the scholar notes.
He adds: “Serving on the 2026–2028 Board of the IFT Mexico Section allows me to actively contribute to building more inclusive and collaborative academic communities with a greater international reach.”
Regarding his contribution in this role, he notes that he aims to establish himself as a strategic link between knowledge generation and its application in industry. He also emphasized the importance of promoting collaborative initiatives that drive innovation in food safety, sustainability, and competitiveness.
“The most important thing is to create opportunities for all female students who want to pursue careers in science and technology,”, she says.

Visibility for the Pan-American Highway and CINOV
Dr. Domínguez also highlights the impact that this type of recognition has on the visibility of the institution’s work: “The fact that this appointment has been featured by The Food Tech not only amplifies the reach of the work we do at CINOV and the Universidad Panamericana, but also directly strengthens our internationalization strategy.”
“This kind of visibility allows us to showcase our scientific and technological capabilities to global audiences and facilitates the formation of partnerships with institutions, research centers, and industry players in other countries,” he adds.

A milestone in the energy sector: the first female representative in Aguascalientes
At the same time, Dr. Julieta Domínguez was appointedrepresentative of IEEE PES Women in Power (WiP) for the Aguascalientes Section, with a focus onLatin America, becoming thefirst person to hold this rolein that section.

IEEE Power & Energy Society Women in Power is an initiative that promotes women's leadership in the energy sector, fostering more inclusive and sustainable communities.

In this regard, the scholar states: “Being appointed as the IEEE PES Women in Power representative for the Aguascalientes Section, with a scope covering Latin America, is an honor and a deep commitment to gender equality in strategic sectors such as energy. In my case, I aim to promote clean energy for manufacturing, seeking to advance sustainability through the circular economy.”
She highlights the symbolic and transformative significance of being the first woman to hold this position in her chapter: “The fact that I am the first person to hold this role in the IEEE Aguascalientes Chapter sets an important precedent—not as an individual achievement, but as a step toward opening up more opportunities for participation.”
Initiatives to promote women's talent
When asked how she plans to promote women’s participation in the energy sector, Dr. Domínguez explains: “My focus will be on creating mentoring networks, promoting training programs, and strengthening communities that highlight female talent in engineering and energy”.
He adds: “I will also seek to foster partnerships between academia, industry, energy agencies, and international organizations to create concrete professional development opportunities, especially for young students and female researchers interested in the energy sector.”
