Mexico City, October 20, 2022.- With the objective that the students of the Bachelor's Degree in Music and Innovation of the School of Fine Arts(EBA) of the Universidad Panamericana live the experience of participating in the production of first level musical shows, on November 1, 5 and 6, the staging of the Opera Don Giovanni by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart took place at the Teatro de las Artes of the Centro Nacional de las Artes(CENART).
A great production
The masterful staging is the most important project of the EBA this year and counted with the participation of the following artists Iván López Reynosoas concert director; Mtro. Mauricio García Lozano, stage director; and Mtra. Gabriela Herreraas vocal director and co-producer.
In the production of Don Giovanni, 45 students participated in the Symphony Orchestra of the Universidad Panamericana, plus six soloists and 14 in the choir, a total of 65 students, which represents more than 50% of the students enrolled in the EBA, in addition to six teachers.
Training experience
Gabriela Herrera, vocal director, said: "This staging represents a unique experience in Mexico . For an opera student it is a very enriching experience, besides the fact that there is no other educational institution in our country that is producing opera at this level".
He also highlighted that "for the students of the Panamericana School of Fine Arts, participating in our first opera production of Hänsel and Gretel (2019), was a growth experience at all levels."
He explained that it was a resounding success with seven sold-out performances at CENART, "now doing it in the staging of Don Giovanni will undoubtedly complement his professional artistic training," he said.
