International internships at Universidad de La Sabana
Within the Universidad de La Sabana, there are two directed rotations for Psychology students with a clinical focus, which consist in the participation of students in a Psychology Service Center in Chia, north of Bogota.
In this sense, as an international internship, students in advanced semesters will perform different activities such as: evaluation, diagnosis and intervention with patients, supervised and accompanied at all times by expert psychologists from the same university.
Also, basic semester students will perform a theoretical-practical rotation in different areas within Psychology, including the clinical, sports and business areas, where they will be giving simulated workshops.
"Students will learn how to fill out the clinical history of a patient with a mental health condition. They will learn how to conduct a psychological interview, as well as the tests and instruments that need to be applied, and how to keep a psychological file," says Alejandro de los Reyes Moreno, director of the Bachelor's Degree in Psychology.
In addition, they will also participate in the Simulated Hospital of the Universidad de La Sabana, where they will simulate cases with real patients.
In this way, the basic semesters will focus more on simulation and practice, while the advanced semesters will completely cover the clinical part with real patients who pay a certain fee to the University for psychological care, as is sought in the Psychology Laboratories project that will soon be implemented at the Panamericana campus in Aguascalientes, which will also open its doors to Colombian students.
Scholas Ocurrentes Project at the University of Granada
On the other hand, the Scholas Ocurrentes Project - an initiative of Pope Francis - seeks a link with universities of Christian identity to intervene and support the most vulnerable communities in educational, mental health, migration, etc. issues.
During 2023, students from the Bachelor's Degree in Psychology participated in this same initiative within the Addiction Rehabilitation project with topics of social intervention and mental health in the community of Chaco, in northern Argentina.
This year, two students from the Bachelor's Degrees in Psychology and Psychopedagogy will participate in this same initiative focused on a social field. On this occasion, the experience will consist of providing regularization support for children and psychological support, in addition to getting involved in campaigns that support refugees and migrants.
