Mexico City, October 25, 2022.- With great joy and enthusiasm, the School of Pedagogy held the presentation of the book María Pliego, an educational vocationMarcela Chavarría, the author of the book, managed to capture the life and work of the person who would be key in the founding of today's School of Pedagogy at Universidad Panamericana.

The event, in addition to the author, was attended by Dr. Fernanda Llergo Bay, Rector General of IPADE and IPADE Universidad Panamericana and IPADE; Dr. Claudia Fabiola Ortega Vargas, Vice Rector for Research of campus Mexico and Dr. José Antonio Lozano Díez, President of the Board of Governors of Universidad Panamericana and IPADE.

A relevant work in Pedagogy

"This book is of utmost importance for our school because through its pages, written in detail by Dr. Chavarría, it makes known to the new generations who was the teacher Maria Pliego, who not only left us a great legacy, but also reinforces the commitment that we pedagogues have with ourselves, with education and with the construction of a better world," explained Dr. Villarreal during the presentation of the event.

Dr. Lozano congratulated the School of Pedagogy for this celebration and said: "What is certain is this: today the Universidad Panamericana continues to be what it is thanks to the founding seed left by Maria Pliego".

In this sense, Dr. Llergo, in her capacity as rector but above all as a former student of Dr. María Pliego, did not miss the opportunity to offer a few words in honor of the well-known teacher of teachers.

"As another great professor, Rafael Alvira, used to say, Maria Pliego knew how to enter the classroom with trembling because she knew how to speak to us by looking at our hearts, but first she had enlightened our intelligence," he said.

Dr. Ortega Vargas, who was specially invited to give her evaluative commentary on the text by María Pliego, an educational vocation, began her speech by highlighting the importance of understanding that institutions such as Universidad Panamericana are made by people .

That is why this work, in addition to rescuing the figure of María Pliego, takes up the origin of this house of studies that was born at the same time as the Bachelor's Degree in Pedagogy, which recently celebrated its 55th anniversary. "I invite you to read the text and thank you very much for your attendance, your attention and your participation", he added.

Last but not least, Dr. Marcela Chavarría took the floor to show all those present a photographic session that seeks to preserve the historical memory of the institution. The photographs come from María Pliego's collection and others from the author's own collection.

"I am truly honored to have been entrusted by the Universidad Panamericana to write a book about the woman who was part of the founding team of this beloved institution and, at the same time, I am grateful to finally have this book in my hands," she concluded.
