Aguascalientes, Ags., October 19, 2023.- Students Javier Eluney Hernandez and Ulises Gallardo Rodriguez, from Artificial Intelligence Engineering, were authors of a paper in the LXAI workshop (LatinX in AI) -a workshop by and for Latin researchers in Artificial Intelligence- at the exclusive ICCV Paris 2023They were also accompanied by Mtro. Ricardo Abel Espinosa Loera, Director of the Artificial Intelligence Engineering program at the Panamerican University of Technology (Panamericana University of Technology). Student Eluney Hernandez shares his personal experience: "A few weeks ago I had the opportunity to present my paper entitled Endo-ViT: Color-aware Exposure Correction for Endoscopic Imaging via a Lightweight Vision Transformer at the LXAI workshop, within one of the most prestigious Computer Vision and Artificial Intelligence conferences in the world such as the ICCV".

About the French capital, which is where the event was held, he comments that "it is a city that captivated me with its iconic architecture, and rich history, plus I had the opportunity to explore places like the Eiffel Tower, the Louvre museum and Montmartre, all of which left a lasting impression on me. In addition, I not only had the opportunity to walk around and experience French culture in various aspects, but also to spend time with fellow students both as PhD students and scientists in the area of Artificial Intelligence."

As for her paper, it was a work derived from her Deep Learning class with Mtro. Ricardo Espinosa of which the final project consisted of doing a research paper throughout the semester and, since the professor works with medical imaging, Eluney decided on this same topic since she would have a lot of support.

"One of the most enriching aspects of my experience at the conference was the opportunity to meet outstanding people in the field of artificial intelligence not only from our country, but globally, such as the great scientist Yann LeCun," he stresses.

It was a unique opportunity to talk with other researchers and scientists: "they inspired and motivated me even more to pursue a career in AI research, and I learned that France offers many exceptional opportunities for researchers in this field, thanks to the conveniences and financial support that the government provides to researchers in multiple public institutions that are considered among the best globally".

He also adds that "I would recommend that students find their passion, and seek mentors to support them in extending their network of contacts, carry out projects on topics that seem interesting to them, seek scholarships, programs, conferences and stays in other universities or even companies, and always enjoying the academic journey that this entails".
