Dr. Carreras said: "The Data Science and Cybersecurity Engineering program is the only one that generates, jointly, experts in the use of data science tools, artificial intelligence and cybersecurity from a deep and comprehensive understanding of computer science; it is a novel proposal and a solution to the growing need of the industry and the market for specialized professionals in the field.

World overview

Globally, and especially in Latin America, most of the professionals currently working in the cybersecurity area have obtained their skills through certifications or self-taught and not through specialized academic courses at the undergraduate level.

Some industry data indicates that in the U.S. alone there are more than 700,000 unfilled cybersecurity positions and worldwide the shortfall of cybersecurity specialists amounts to 3.5 million people.

Under this perspective, Julián Garrido highlighted: "this type of agreement promotes the early training of talent in the real world, under an accelerated learning methodology and with the mentoring of international teams, who work every day in the generation of solutions to raise awareness, protect, alert and mitigate the attacks faced by users and corporations".
