HPE Innovation Challenge

It all started thanks to an email from Career Services in which the call was launched for the university engineering community to sign up. At the time, Celina said that it caught her and her team's attention because it was an invitation to compete from Hewlett Packard.

HPE Innovation Challenge

In total, it was a process that lasted 3 months. It began with a kickoff, in which the students went to HPE's facilities to have the calendar and the challenge they had to solve explained to them. They were also introduced to the manager who would help them.

Once the challenge was explained to them, Gissela commented that "they gave us a database and every week we had online meetings with our advisor and Mario Leal from UP also helped us a lot. He gave us advice on what we could do.

Regarding the challenges they faced in the competition, Maria stated that they believed that when they came to HPE they would not have so many problems that they could improve. "When we arrived at the company we saw everything and we solved several problems that they had. and that is why we are very happy," she said.

Competency learning

For Celina, what she liked most about participating in the HPE Innovation Challenge was "the experience of getting to know the company and new people, but also the learning part, because we realized that many times a company, no matter how big it is, can have details and sometimes when you are from the outside, you see things better than those who are inside".

A proud coach

Mario Antonio Leal González, Director of Graduate Engineering, was their coach and advised them throughout the three months of the competition. After learning that the Panamericana students won, he was very satisfied, because "they were very dynamic, energetic and put a lot of energy into their preparation. It was very gratifying to go to their presentation and see how they won the prize. I feel very proud of them.

Community advice

One piece of advice the Industrial Engineering students give to the university community is to "be aware of everything they send by e-mail.to keep an eye on everything they send by e-mail. Everything can be very enriching, because we entered the HPE competition without knowing that we were going to win and now we are going to Houston to present to the HPE headquarters and they also gave us the opportunity to be interns in the company".

Universidad Panamericana Campus Guadalajara congratulates students Celina Villaseñor, Gissela Alvarez and María Jeannette Mier from the Industrial Engineering and Business Innovation program for winning the HPE Innovation Challenge and wishes them every success in their upcoming trip to Houston, Texas.
