XVIII Civil Engineering Symposium concludes successfully

ZAPOPAN, Jalisco; March 28, 2023. Universidad Panamericana Campus Guadalajara through the School of Engineering held its XVIII edition of the Civil Engineering Symposium, an event of international stature that has been held for more than twenty years, focused on engineering and architecture students, professionals and businessmen of the construction industry.

XVIII Civil Engineering Symposium

The purpose of this event is to present topics for updating and innovation, so this year the topics addressed were the following: concrete and steel structures, geotechnical engineering, urban hydraulics, real estate funding, developers, construction and project management, and entrepreneurship in civil engineering.

The 18th edition of the Symposium focused on analyzing the new trends related to the State's development infrastructure.

Speakers

Proof of this was that they brought very important people in the construction industry, such as David Zamora, who serves as Secretary of Infrastructure and Public Works of the State of Jalisco. He was the one who developed the recent "Mi Macro Periférico" project. In his talk he talked about the process of coordinating the city's scheme and how they managed to implement the project in such a short period of time.

Another of the speakers at the Symposium was Andrés Villaseñoran Alumni of Civil Engineering at the Universidad Panamericana Guadalajara Campus who helped in the construction of two soccer stadiums for the Qatar 2022 World Cup: the Lusail and Ahmed Bin Ali stadiums. He also collaborated in the construction of the Akron Stadium of the Chivas, the coating of the Territorio Santos Modelo, the remodeling of the Cuauhtémoc Stadium of Puebla and other projects in Chile and Colombia.

In addition to David Zamora and Andrés Villaseñor, the content of the XVIII Symposium was presented by the following speakers: Francisco Ontiveros, Director of Public Works in Guadalajara; Elizabeth Dávalos, Project Director of Cautín Ingeniería Estructural in Zapopan; Ismael Jaurégui, Director of Public Works in Zapopan; Maria C. Lehman, President of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE); Juan Miguel Rodríguez, Manager of CEMEX's Innovation and Development Center; Miguel Echauri, General Director of Echauri Morales Arquitectos; and Joel Zuloaga, Director of Special Projects at the Ministry of Infrastructure and Public Works of the State of Jalisco.

For Guillermo Almeida, a student of Civil Engineering and Administration, who helped in the organization of the event, he states that "It is very gratifying to be able to cooperate to improve the career, because with only two months of anticipation, we were able to coordinate the logistics and bring the best people within the Construction Industry".
