UP Architecture participates with Kyoto Arts and Crafts University

Aguascalientes, Ags. May 23rd, 2024.- The School of Architecture of our Panamerican campus Panamericana campus Aguascalientes participates with the University of University of Kyoto Arts and Crafts University (KYOBI) in an architectural project where professors and students collaborate.

Create synergy between both universities

Within the course of Architectural Composition IV directed by Dr. Brenda Estefanía Díaz Macías and Mtro. Raúl Alberto Dávila Espinoza, a COIL (Cooperative Online International Learning) is carried out in connection with the architectural projects class of Dr. Shunichiro Higashi from Kyoto Arts and Crafts University in Japan.

This International Cooperative Online Learning (ICEL) consists of integrating classes from both universities by sharing a topic in which professors and students from both universities participate.

The two groups share online classes with the teachers for two to three weeks to develop a project that at the end of the process should result in an evidence.

For this COIL, Dr. Higashi's expertise in the use of color in architecture has been used by the Mexican students to develop a museum project applying the Japanese architectural concepts that Dr. Higashi has taught the students in his classes.

"Japanese culture is fascinating, however, it requires in-depth knowledge to place yourself in the right context when collaborating with Japanese," he shared.

The project will be brought to reality by applying the results at the School of Architecture's end-of-semester ExpoArq at the Museo Aguascalientes on June 7, 2024.
