Engineering alumni part of the "The Last of Us" series.

ZAPOPAN, Jalisco; March 28, 2023.- Verónica Lara Rodríguez, a Digital Animation Engineering student, was part of the production team for the HBO series, The Last Of Uswhich premiered on March 5 through the streaming platform HBO Max.

The Last of Us

The series is based on a horror, action-adventure video game developed by U.S.-based Naughty Dog.

The alumni, who is now a Digital Matte Painter at DistilleryVFX, worked on the production with lighting, rendering and matte painting in episode 3, in the houses and surroundings of the town of the character "Bill" and in episode 7 in the sequences that take place inside the mall.

"My experience was incredible, every shot I worked on has a whole story behind it, impossible to summarize in a few words."

She says it was a great challenge, as her supervisors pushed her to help in areas that were completely new to her and assigned her as the only DMP artist to work specifically on episode 7, she says it was a complicated process, but in the end she got a very gratifying result.

Veronica is grateful to the career for introducing her to Matte Painting and realizing that it was possible to work in films and television series. In addition, she recognizes how the Universidad Panamericana reaffirmed the values that were instilled in her at home, teaching her to have a better discipline and to raise her standards of quality in her own work. She also thanks several teachers who gave her the support and understanding she needed, so she was able to overcome several difficulties she was going through at the time and become a better version of herself.

As a recommendation, she suggests that students find time to practice outside of class, complement their education with tutorials and build a demo reel throughout their studies. She also suggests contacting people who are already doing what they aspire to do, "they can guide you and give you tips better than anyone else to help you get where you are.

The Universidad Panamericana congratulates Veronica for this great achievement and wishes her the best of success in her professional career. The alumni is part of the great exponents that the University is proud to have.
