Colibri Space Laboratory awarded NALC Prize

Mexico City, November 18, 2022.- The Colibrí Space Laboratory, from the Universidad Panamericana, and its flagship project Pakal, was selected as winner of the ILAN University Innovation Award 2022in recognition of the effort, determination, hard work and persistence necessary to crystallize a high-level university project of a social nature.

The ILAN Innovation Awards are granted by the Israel Foundation + Latin American Network, to recognize and promote innovation in Mexico and Latin America and are awarded to agents of change who dare to modify and improve existing elements and realities. In this its 3rd edition, for the first time the call was opened to university projects.

The Shimon Peres Award was received by Dr. Santiago García Álvarez, rector of our Panamericana, from Isaac Assa, founder and president of the NALC Foundation.

This award will provide Colibri Space Laboratory the possibility of having greater diffusion and opportunities to participate in NALC allied forums at the national and international level.

About Pakal

Pakalfrom the Colibri Space Laboratory, is a miniaturized cubesat satellite, also known as a 3-unit cubesat nanosatellite, designed by undergraduate students at Universidad Panamericana.

Its mission is to measure atmospheric density changes in low-Earth orbit, with the purpose of innovating tracking and navigation sciences, thus adding to space debris mitigation efforts and testing innovative space technology.
