Aguascalientes, Ags. February 7, 2023. Panamericana and throughout his academic career as a law graduate, Dr. Pablo Gonzalez Dominguez showed a great vocation for research and teaching of human rights, which has led him to become a collaborator of the Inter-American Court of Human Rights.

Since he was a student, Pablo Gonzalez has had an interest in international law and human rights, thanks in large part to the teachings and example of the professors who taught him these subjects during his graduate studies: the Master's in International Law at Georgetown University and the Ph.D. in International Human Rights Law" at the University of Notre Dame.

"When I completed my doctorate, I wrote my thesis on an innovative topic of the Inter-American Court, and I did a research stay at the Court's headquarters. A few years later, when I finished my doctoral studies, the opportunity opened up to join the permanent staff, and I have been working at the Court ever since," says Pablo proudly.

Among the achievements that Pablo Gonzalez obtained in our Panamericana, he was awarded a scholarship for academic excellence that was granted to him during the entire period of his bachelor's degree, he was also recognized every semester as one of the three best averages of the 2004-2009 graduating class.

Although he did not participate in exchanges, the first three summers of his undergraduate studies he participated in the Summer Seminar for the Study of Western Institutions, organized by the Phoenix Institute in its programs at the University of Notre Dame (2005-2006) and in Vienna (2007).

His dedication and commitment to his profession led him to be co-founder and legal advisor of the Instituto de Acceso a la Justicia, a civil association to provide legal advisory services to low-income people and promote a culture of human rights in Aguascalientes, which was created at the same Law School in 2007.

In addition, his skills allowed him to be a speaker on the winning team in the national rounds of the Philip C. Jessup International Law Moot Court Competition, and a participant in the international rounds of the competition during 2009; he finally graduated with honors after his thesis defense in 2010.

"I highlight three things that Panamericana left me: first, the basis for my professional development as a lawyer and as an academic; second, extracurricular activities that allowed me to broaden the horizons of my professional practice and develop crucial skills in my career; and third, a humanistic education that has the person and his or her integral development as its central point," he adds.

A vocation that knows no boundaries

Currently, Pablo works as an attorney at the Inter-American Court of Human Rights, in San José, Costa Rica, where he coordinates one of the teams on contentious cases, advisory opinions, and provisional measures.

In the academic field, he is a postgraduate professor in International Law and Human Rights at various universities and institutes, among which the following stand out Universidad Panamericana and the Instituto de Investigaciones Jurídicas of the UNAM in Mexico, and the Universidad de la Sabana and the Universidad del Externado in Colombia.

He is also the author of a book and several articles specialized in human rights and is also a member of the National System of Researchers of Conacyt, Level I.

"Some advice I would give to future graduates is to study and work hard to achieve their goals, and take advantage of all the opportunities that Panamericana offers, also take the time to enjoy the people and experiences in this important stage that are about to begin," he invites.
