At the beginning of this year, the Universidad Panamericana Campus Guadalajara, opened its doors again to welcome all its students back to school. In order to comply with the sanitary requirements and avoid contagions in the community, measures were taken such as the use of masks that are part of the permitted list (KN95, K95, KF94, FFP3), registration of symptoms, temperature measurement and application of antibacterial gel at the entrance, anyone who did not comply with these requirements was denied entry to the campus.
Highlighting the values of solidarity, social responsibility, empathy and generosity, Panamericana, through the UP Social Commitment, carried out the campaign "Mouth Covers with a Cause", which had the purpose of facilitating students and collaborators to acquire mouth covers at the entrances, in case they did not have those authorised, which were sold in booths 1 and 2, at the pedestrian entrances of the University, at a cost of $20 pesos each.
At the end of this campaign, a total of 4,356 masks were sold, of which 2,106 were KF94 and 2,250 KN95. A total of $87,113.03 pesos and a profit of $58,907.33 pesos. The funds raised were donated to the Canica A.C. Foundation, which is dedicated to assisting and supporting children with cancer. The proceeds received will be used for the purchase of medicines, laboratory studies, wheelchairs, canteens, lodging, transportation, a school programme and palliative care.
The Social Commitment department has supported Canica A.C. since before, being part of the list of organizations in which Panamericana students complete their social work services each semester. Now with this initiative, Universidad Panamericana seeks to protect its community and at the same time have an impact on society by helping those who need it most.
