Panamerican community joins in donation campaign

Zapopan, Jalisco; November 22, 2022.- With the aim of raising awareness among the university community of donation and giving a second use to the things they have at home, the student groups SAUP, ENACTUS, COPARMEX and Compromiso Social organized a donation campaign of new or reusable objects for different projects and civil associations.

A total of 1385 items were collected and donated by 117 people. Specifically, there were 96 undergraduate students, 17 collaborators, 2 alumni, 1 exchange student and 1 extra volunteer. These were toys, sweaters, sweatshirts, jackets, blankets, quilts, socks, non-perishable food, personal cleaning items, caps and hats, hair, yarn for knitting beanies, glass bottles, paper for recycling, reading books, adult clothing, shoes, children's clothing, cloth bags, magazines and plastic bags.

The student group of the Alumni Society (SAUP) and ENACTUS in conjunction with Street Santa, held a donation campaign, in which they seek to bring a smile to the faces of underprivileged children who yearn for a toy for this Christmas season.

Continuing with the Alumni Society, another donation project was carried out so that people with limited resources can avoid being cold during the approaching winter season, and above all, to protect people in street situations from the cold.

For its part, the COPARMEX student group made a collaboration with FM4 Paso Libre, in which they will donate socks to migrants to prevent them from getting cold in this winter season.

One project in which the three student groups joined together was to donate non-perishable food and personal cleaning supplies to support the victims of the State of Nayarit recently affected by hurricane "Roslyn".

For its part, Compromiso Social in conjunction with Proyecto Gorritos con Causa, carried out a donation campaign that will support children with cancer from 1 to 18 years of age with limited resources and will be delivered to the Zoquipan Hospital and Hospital Civil in December 2022.

UP Social Commitment

Compromiso Social in conjunction with Fundación HACE, A.C., carried out a collection of recycling and reuse of glass, in order to give them a new use. Bottles were collected, which will be useful for people with autism and aspergers who make glass products such as: vases, candles, glasses, ashtrays, among others.

Compromiso Social in conjunction with the Guadalajara City Council organized a book reuse campaign, because from April 23, 2022 to April 22, 2023 Guadalajara will be the World Book Capital (international distinction created by UNESCO), and therefore, it is committed to promote books and reading as a tool to preserve knowledge, spread culture and promote peace. The donated books will be delivered to the City Hall and will be part of the literary mailboxes of the City.

Finally, Compromiso Social in conjunction with Mi Gran Esperanza, carried out a leaf recycling campaign, in which they will support children with cancer for the purchase of treatments, medicines, medical equipment, among other needs.

Cassandra Martínez, a student in the ENACTUS donation campaign, said, "It is important to donate to help others who have fewer resources. We are not always privileged to have or be where we are, so I think it is good to give a little of what we have".

The Universidad Panamericana Campus Guadalajara is proud of the different donation campaigns that the university community carried out, promoting the values and identity of the University with society.
