Aguascalientes, Ags., July 25, 2023.- Committed to reflecting its motto: "live to serve", the Aguascalientes Campus Universidad Panamericana Aguascalientes Campus inaugurated the Bonaterra Community, a social project The project seeks to promote educational programs, cultural and sports activities that promote the well-being and prosperity of families in Aguascalientes, especially in the eastern area, to ensure the reduction of social inequalities, as well as to promote integral, human and dignified development.

Today, the Mirador de las Culturas neighborhood was the meeting point where municipal and state authorities gathered to inaugurate this community center in its first location, with two of its three phases completed.

Those in charge of inaugurating the zone were: Dr. Fernanda Llergo Bay, General Rector of the UP-IPADE system, C. Teresa Jiménez Esquivel, Governor of the State of Aguascalientes, Mtro. Antonio de los Reyes Moreno, Rector of UP Aguascalientes, C. Leonardo Montañez Castro, Municipal President of Aguascalientes, Don José Guadalupe López Valdivia, President of the Superior Council of the UP, C. Norma Adela Guel Saldívar, Head of the State Secretariat of Family, C. Patricia Castillo Romero, Head of the State Secretariat of Social Development, MBA José Ramón Medrano Muñoz, MBA José Ramón Medrano Muñoz, Head of the State Secretariat of Social Development, MBA José Ramón Medrano Muñoz. Norma Adela Guel Saldívar, Head of the State Secretariat of the Family, C. Patricia Castillo Romero, Head of the State Secretariat of Social Development, MBA José Ramón Medrano Muñoz, President of the Bonaterra Community Promotion Group and C. Aurora Jiménez Esquivel, President of the State DIF System Volunteers.

It is worth mentioning that on Saturday the 15th the blessing was given by Bishop Don Juan Espinosa.

A project for change and integral development

The Bonaterra Community project was born from researching and analyzing the different social problems and needs in different areas of Aguascalientes, with the initiative of Lorenza María Larios Córdova to create a replicable social model that promotes the integral development of people and turns them into agents of change.

The main social problems and needs that are addressed through our programs and projects are: school dropout and backwardness, vandalism, drug addiction, domestic violence, lack of educational and employment opportunities, among others.

The population that is directly served is located in the eastern part of the city; among the different neighborhoods are: Miradores de las Culturas, La Hojarasca, Laurales, Cumbres I, II and III, Pericos, Villas de las Fuentes, Solidaridad I and II, and Bajío de Las Palmas.

Some of the objectives of Comunidad Bonaterra:

  • Promote the full integral development of the families of Aguascalientes, in their different dimensions, with dignity.
  • Create a replicable social intervention model to reduce poverty and social inequalities.
  • Promote that all people can exercise their rights, under a healthy social coexistence.
  • Promote inclusive, equitable and quality education for a comprehensive education that ensures greater opportunities for growth.
  • The homes of Aguascalientes families should be decent places that are livable, safe and accessible.
  • Ensuring quality of life through health and health care services.
  • Encourage decent work that allows people to develop and grow in their social environment. Promote access to job opportunities with fair economic retribution.
  • To have access to legal justice within their reach, among others.

Promote sports and artistic culture

As part of the inauguration event, some teams of children and young people faced each other in a friendly match as part of the opening of the field, where some Club Necaxa soccer players gave them some motivational words in their sports field. With that, the girls' group joined in with a dance performance.

Some of the activities offered to children and young people include soccer, chess, dance, kung fu, handicraft workshops, among many others. Also, this space is available to the community for the development of academic and training programs and the provision of counseling on various topics of interest according to the needs of families. Such as a psycho-pedagogical office, legal office, tax, accounting and business consulting, advice for the construction of a decent home, among others.

Support from various associations

Bonaterra Community has had the support and participation of the UP volunteer association; UNETE (university students in all their expression). As well as the volunteerism of collaborators of the Universidad Panamericana and friendly organizations such as Fundación Maratón AC, Amexme AC (Mexican Association of Women Entrepreneurs), Aguascalientes Gran Visión AC, Fundación Compartamos, among others. In addition, fundraising campaigns were carried out with the participation of various donors.
