Aguascalientes, Aguascalientes; February 26, 2026.— In an emotional and scholarly atmosphere, the Universidad Panamericana Aguascalientes Universidad Panamericana hosted the book launch for Lessons in Philosophical Anthropology (with theological annotations). The Essence, Transcendence, and Origin of Man, by Dr. Eduardo Sánchez de Alba, professor at the Institute of Humanities and a beloved figure at this institution.

The event, held in the Pan-American Auditorium of the IPADE Building, brought together officials from the UP-IPADE system, administrators, faculty, students, and alumni for a ceremony that went beyond a simple book launch to become a tribute to the author’s intellectual and personal legacy.
An academic tribute at the Universidad Panamericana
From the outset, Dr. Ethel Junco, who is also a professor and served as the host, emphasized the unique nature of the event. “This is a domestic event in the truest sense of the word—the sense in which Latins ascribed to the word *domus* the value of the centrality of the home.”
He added that, in this act of presenting a book, “the university is fulfilling its mission: to seek the truth together and to engage in dialogue so that it can be communicated from person to person.”

The event was attended by Dr. Fernanda Llergo Bay, President of the UP-IPADE System; Antonio de los Reyes Moreno, Dean of the Aguascalientes Campus; as well as faculty members and administrators from the Institute of Humanities.
In her remarks, Dr. Fernanda Llergo made it clear that the event was more than just the presentation of an academic work. “We know we’re here for a book launch, but in reality we’re paying tribute to a professor, and that’s what brings us together and makes this event special.”

The Rector General emphasized that the text addresses fundamental questions about the human person.“What is a person? What are their faculties? Where do they come from, and where are they going? If we all had that clear, we could shed light on major ideological issues that arise in our lives today.”
He emphasized the consistency between the author’s life and his thinking. “Dr. Sánchez writes what he is: a person who knows where he comes from and where he is going, and he has made that clear through his life.”
These words highlight the deep alignment between the work presented and the Christian identity that defines the Universidad Panamericana. An identity that places the individual at the center of the university’s mission and views education as a rigorous pursuit of truth, open to transcendence, and committed to a well-rounded education.
Philosophical Anthropology and Holistic Education
Dr. Alberto Ross, director of the Institute of Humanities, participated virtually and shared his thoughts on the book. He noted that the book not only presents ideas but also reveals the author’s intellectual and human character. “Books almost always reflect the author, but with this book… the word ‘reflection’ doesn’t do it justice. When you read it, it’s as if you’re having a conversation with Eduardo.”
He also highlighted the introduction written by Dr. Sánchez himself, in which he expresses his hope that the book will truly serve a good purpose. Quoting from the text, he recalled: “If the book fails in its qualitative objective, may it also fail in its quantitative one; if it does not serve a good purpose, let no one read it.”
For Dr. Ross, this statement reveals the author’s authenticity and intellectual honesty, as well as his deep commitment to teaching.
A legacy for the university community
Dr. Claudio Calabrese, professor of Humanities at the Aguascalientes campus, described the work as a legacy and emphasized its relevance within the context of the university’s mission. “When we refer to philosophical anthropology, we are undoubtedly delving into one of the most complex topics in philosophy. Dr. Sánchez has left us a book that we must make use of—by reading it, interpreting it, and growing from it.”

He also emphasized that this text provides an indispensable theoretical foundation for a university inspired by a Christian understanding of the human person. “This book captures the essence of the human person and offers us a theory. This theory enables us to carry out all the research conducted at the university across every field, ” he said.
A Word from the Author: Gratitude and Transcendence
When he took the floor, Dr. Eduardo Sánchez began by expressing his gratitude. “Honestly, all that’s left for me to do is simply thank you very much—thank you, thank you, thank you.”
He explained that the book is the result of more than forty years of teaching at various campuses of the Universidad Panamericana and that, although it took nearly two and a half years to write, it reflects the ongoing dialogue he has had with generations of students over the decades.

In a heartfelt way, he confessed that the book had also been a spiritual experience. “While I was writing this book, I prayed a lot… I would start with that prayer by St. Thomas Aquinas for intellectual work… I could almost say that Jesus Christ is the co-author of this book, ” the professor remarked with a smile.
These words highlight the deep integration of faith and reason that characterizes the Christian intellectual tradition and constitutes one of the foundational pillars of the Universidad Panamericana.
During his conversation with the audience, Dr. Sánchez recalled a teaching from St. John Paul II addressed to educators during his visit to the city of Aguascalientes: “The best method of education is your love for your students, your moral authority, and the values you embody,”, thus reaffirming that education is, above all, an act of personal dedication.
Wisdom, consistency, and simplicity
The closing remarks were delivered by Antonio de los Reyes Moreno, Ph.D., rector of the Aguascalientes campus, who highlighted three qualities that characterize the author:“the first is his wisdom; the second is his integrity; and the third is his humility.”

The president emphasized that the Universidad Panamericana to educate students and faculty who share that same human and intellectual profile. “What we want to cultivate at this university are people like him, and we want to have more professors like Eduardo Sánchez de Alba at this institution.”
A work that strengthens Christian identity
The presentation of *Lessons in Philosophical Anthropology* reaffirms one of the core principles guiding the Universidad Panamericana inter-campus initiatives: Christian Identity, which places the individual at the center of education, research, and technological development.
In a cultural context marked by debates on human nature and dignity, this work offers a rigorous reflection that is open to transcendence, reinforcing the university’s philosophy and leaving a legacy that will continue to inspire future generations of students and faculty.

With this publication, Dr. Eduardo Sánchez de Alba leaves behind an intellectual and human legacy that strengthens the university’s philosophy and will continue to inspire present and future generations of students and faculty.
