ZAPOPAN, Jalisco; May 22, 2024.- Cristian Magaña Macias, an alumni of the Finance Finance major and former and a former member of the Universidad Panamericana Guadalajara Campusreceived the "Che Correa" scholarship, which will help him cover part of his degree expenses.

The scholarship "Che Correa is granted thanks to the generosity of a group of alumni former members of the Universidad Panamericana soccer team, who, like the current selected players, were trained personally and professionally in this university.
Cristian Magaña obtains the Che Correa Scholarship
The alumni donors seek to give back to Panamericana a little of what they received during their years as students. In previous editions, they helped five students with this scholarship and, in this third edition, Cristian was the beneficiary. The scholarship presentation took place in the Garciarce Rectory Hall at 10:00 hrs.

Cristian Magaña's story goes back to his entry to Universidad Panamericana, where his life took a "total turn". He is now a "much more humane person, who thinks more about his classmates". For Cristian, a career in Finance gave him a different perspective on life, motivating him to strive for a better quality of life and to get ahead.
Cristian's biggest challenge as a student and selected for the soccer team was managing his time. "It may sound simple because it's something you love, but there were times when time, fatigue and wear and tear got the better of you." He also had to perform academically, excelling as a person, athlete and student.

The event was attended by prominent alumni such as Fabián Monsalve, José Antonio Rodríguez, Alfonso Hernández and Diego Herkommer, as well as coach Jorge Correa "El Che". Representing the University were Martín Velázquez, Head of Sports; Ma. Fernanda Reynoso, Assistant Director of the Development Office; Mariana Belén García, Alumni Assistant Director; Alma Aurora García, Development Office Coordinator; and Ximena Díaz, Alumni Coordinator.

Diego Herkommer congratulated the honorees, highlighting their efforts in study and sports, a passion that changes lives. Alfonso Hernandez stressed the importance of the support of "El Che" and the need to turn to the values and formative roots. Jorge Correa expressed his pride in the friendships forged on the field. José Antonio emphasized the importance of the support received from the UP and the importance of "returning the ball". Martín Velázquez praised Cristian as a brilliant and committed leader. Fernanda Reynoso urged everyone to seek transcendence and leave a lasting legacy.
Cristian expressed his most sincere gratitude, sharing how his life changed thanks to the athletic scholarship granted by UP, which allowed him to finish his career. He thanked the effort and support of the university, professors, coaches and alumni, who inspire him to continue a legacy of generosity. Mariana Belén García highlighted the significant and lasting bond with UP. Fabian Monsalve presented Cristian with a letter from the donors informing him of the Che Correa Scholarship.
The event was an opportunity to reflect on the impact of Universidad Panamericana on the lives of its students and the importance of giving back to the community for the opportunities and values received. The Universidad Panamericana Campus Guadalajara is proud of Cristian Magaña Macias for winning the "Che Correa" scholarship and thanks all the alumni donors for their valuable contribution.
