"No matter how much fear we have, we can face it when we give meaning and significance to life"- Dr. José Antonio Lozano Diez, President of the Board of Governors of the Universidad Panamericana and Former Rector of UP-IPADE.

ZAPOPAN, Jalisco; February 21, 2023.- The conference "Futurophobia" was given by the former president of the Board of Governors of Universidad Panamericana and IPADE, Dr. José Antonio Lozano Diez.

Dr. José Antonio Lozano

In his talk, Dr. José Antonio Lozano spoke about the conditions in the world today, but also with ourselves. He also addressed the "VICA Moment"(volatility, uncertainty, complexity and ambiguity). His various reflections focused on the human being and his relationship with the future.

Dr. Lozano commented that in 2020, humanity faced the pandemic caused by COVID-19. "Such was the impact of the pandemic that it brought us health crises along with economic, educational and psychological crises."

With the pandemic, 1 in 2 people started to go through anxiety and depression problems. "Such a situation led us to the FANI moment: fragility; anxiety; nonlinearity (that we have lost common sense); and incomprehensibility."

Leaving aside what happened in 2020, Dr. Lozano gave his perspective on why humanity's time is passing so quickly. "We start to have a different perception and this happens because in today's age, people go out on the street using their cell phone, having between 3-5 thousand impacts of conscious and subconscious information."

Despite the challenges, the President of the Board of Governors of Universidad Panamericana and IPADE commented that humanity is living in a new era in which there is now an awareness of vulnerability; a change in the conception of time and space; a modification of our way of capturing reality; and a change of meaning for emotions.

Futurophobia

To close his lecture, Dr. Lozano quoted the author of the book Futurophobia, Héctor García Barnés, to state that this term means " (...) Sensation that makes us think that everything that is to come is going to be because of what we already have, and that therefore, our best option is that it does not arrive or that it takes a long time to arrive".

The Universidad Panamericana campus Guadalajara thanks Dr. José Antonio Lozano Diez for his lecture "Futurophobia", and wishes him the best of success today and always.
