ZAPOPAN, Jalisco; November 1, 2022.- The Master Conference: "Facing the global crossroads: A vision of hope", organized by the Institutional Development area, was given by the President of the Board of Governors of IPADE, Dr. José Antonio Lozano Diez. In his talk, addressed to authorities, university directors and strategic allies of the university, Dr. José Antonio Lozano spoke about what is happening today with the world, but also with ourselves. His various reflections focused on the human being and his role in the global crossroads.
He began with a thought that "We are facing an epochal change because we are changing inwardly". Dr. Lozano commented that in 2020 we are facing as humanity the pandemic caused by COVID-19, explaining the phases of it. First, it was classified as an epidemic; then as a pandemic; then as an endemic; and finally it was classified as a syndemic.
Syndemia
For syndemia, he detailed that:
"It is a very strange virus, which we had not seen.Some older adults did not realize they had it, while some young people died. Others were affected in the gastrointestinal system, others in the joints, others in the nervous system. It is a virus that does not attack unilaterally, unlike other diseases".
After having delved into the subject of COVID-19 and its impact on the global environment, he continued with his various reflections, including: "Overcoming adversity increases the capacity to be happy"; "Thinking that there is something beautiful beyond, something worth living for"; "Without responsibility there is no true freedom, it does not exist. Only truly free people can be responsible. And one can only be truly free if one acquires a degree of responsibility".
Similarly, he delved into academic issues, stating that Education is like a 4-legged table made up of: Knowledge; Skills; Emotional Intelligence; and Cosmovision (values).
In addition, he dedicated a moment of his lecture to talk about women, sharing that:
"A woman has such a radical value, so much of her own, that she only needs to be and develop by being who she is.She must know how to understand her own triumphs and successes. Not to compare herself. A femininity that highlights a woman's own. In her own value as a woman and never in comparison".
