Today, Clarissa works at Amazon in a business where they deliver groceries to people within two hours. Her role in the company is to lead the Smile Delivery part for the whole of Spain and she is also Senior Program Manager, i.e. she leads optimization and process improvement projects across Europe.

What the Industrial Engineering Alumni likes most about Amazon is that "every day I do different things, I work a lot on projects on how to improve processes, improve costs and optimize resources".

Alumni challenges

Regarding the challenges she faces in her day-to-day work, the Culiacán, Sinaloa native says that "it is difficult to work with teams from other countries because you have to be very empathetic, understand that there are cultural differences and that sometimes you want to implement a strategy and because of a cultural issue you can't reach an agreement.

Another difficulty for Clarissa is being away from her family and friends in Mexico, so she tries to travel and stay in the country for 2, 3 weeks, or sometimes up to a month to be reunited with her loved ones. At the same time, she works at Amazon remotely.

Such an effort requires a sacrifice, as "I have to get up at 4-5 in the morning to work, and it's a bit jet lagged."

The Panamericana alumna considers "flexibility" one of the reasons she works there. "It's one of the reasons I work at Amazon, because of the flexibility they give me to be on the other side of the world," she said.he commented.

For her, the key to success lies in finding a balance between her work and personal life. "For me, finding a place that allows me to combine both is essential. How do you find the two gears that come together, that give you the conditions for you to be happy in both senses," she said.

The UP on its way

For Clarissa, the Universidad Panamericana was a key factor in driving the human factor in her. " How to understand that the human factor and the impact you have on people in your work is very relevant, and how in the end people are the ones who make the difference," she said.

One piece of advice that theIndustrial Engineering Alumni gives to the student community is to approach experienced people at the University. "I recommend talking to people who are already working to see how you can combine and make the most of your experience through an internship, an exchange, or a language that can be useful for your career plan."

The Universidad Panamericana Campus Guadalajara is proud of Clarissa, whose values, perseverance and passion have taken her to Madrid, Spain, wishing her the greatest success today and always.
