Engineering Research Colloquium 2021

Last January 26, 27 and 28, the Engineering Research Colloquium 2021 was held with the participation of 21 PhD students integrating the participation of the three campuses of our University. The colloquium was separated into the areas of Operations Management, Innovation and Design, Innovation and Mechatronic Systems and Data Science and Artificial Intelligence.

Below is a summary of each day:

On Tuesday 26

Dr. Iñigo Gutierréz García (Director of Development at Tecnum of the University of Navarra) gave the opening presentation on the importance of establishing a balance in research that contributes to knowledge in the state of the art and applied research that generates resources for research. He also mentioned the importance of teachers to constantly deepen their teaching areas so that students receive the most current knowledge in the classroom.

On Wednesday 27

Dr. Ramiro Velázquez, Vice Rector of Research of the Aguascalientes Campus, gave a presentation on UP Technologies for Assistance to the Visually Impaired, showing the advances of various devices capable of helping to improve the quality of life of people with motor and visual disabilities through wheelchairs with intelligence and intelligent systems placed in the insoles of the shoes, capable of generating sensory information indicating the most appropriate route to guide the blind person.

Finally, on Thursday 28

The Colloquium concluded with the participation of Dr. Edgar Ávalos Gauna, Research Professor at the Mexico City Campus with the presentation Data Science, the New Competitive Advantage.

Moderators guided each of the sessions with researchers from the three campuses.

In addition, professors from Universidad Autónoma de Nuevo León (UANL), Universidad Autónoma de Coahuila (UADEC), Universidad Católica del Norte (UCN) in Chile, Universidad de Guadalajara (UdG) and Tecnológico de Monterrey participated as synodal professors in the evaluation of the progress of the doctoral students.

As achievements of this Colloquium 2021 were not only the presentation and evaluation of the students' progress, but also the opening of doctoral students and researchers from the three campuses and synods from several universities in Mexico and abroad. We hope that this event will help to strengthen the current research projects, contributing to the generation of new research links between the different campuses and the aforementioned Universities.

Congratulations on this great achievement!
