150 TREES PLANTED AT THE SECOND UNIVERSITY REFORESTATION

ZAPOPAN, Jalisco; 

The Universidad Panamericana Campus Guadalajara held for the second time the University Reforestation in the Centinela Forest.

This event, organized by the Social Commitment area of Vida Universitaria, aims to promote environmental care, contributes to the recovery of the natural ecosystem and promotes the importance of environmental education within the Pan-American community.

Seventy-six members of the community participated, of which 70 planted the trees and the rest belonged to the staff and support personnel.

The volunteers were transported by bus to the forest where each one planted 2 trees and in total 150 native trees were planted for the floor of El Centinela Forest, such as Palo Dulce, Guaje, Tepame, Tepeguaje and Guamuchil; all of them with a size of 1 meter.

Panamericana was in charge of carrying out this event taking care of all the preventive measures against the pandemic situation such as the delivery of covid kits, mandatory use of masks, respecting the healthy distance and transportation with open windows.

This project was carried out with the advice and follow-up of Bosque Urbano de Extra A.C., and Civil Protection was present throughout the event to assist the volunteers and for safety in case of any accident.

"Reforestation 2021 was a rewarding experience as I bonded more with my fellow university students and contributed to being part of a great change for the environment," commented Gabriela Ponce de Leon, Communication student and volunteer at the event.
