ZAPOPAN, Jalisco; May 24, 2023.- At Panamericana we are committed to building a better world through our training and development of activities to encourage participation in social responsibility, such as in "Recycle and Reuse" actions.

Recycle and Reuse

Every year on May 17, we celebrate and remember the importance of recycling through World Recycling Day. For this reason, we analyze the actions that we have implemented in the Universidad Panamericana, Guadalajara Campusto care for the environment.

Between August 2022 and May 2023, different donation and collection campaigns were carried out, promoted by different areas of the University. These campaigns promoted the R's: Recycle and Reuse.

Impacts of the Pan-American community

We carried out 5 donation and collection campaigns in which more than 338 members of the university community participated , donating more than 6 thousand items, including: clothes, shoes, toys, household items, books, hair, blankets, towels, sheets, magazines, class books, paper for recycling, construction material, glass bottles, food pantries, non-perishable food, school supplies, personal hygiene and household cleaning items, furniture, among others. Some of the products are for recycling and others for reuse.

University Community Service Office

More than 8 social projects benefited, such as the rural Easter and Easter week promotions of Rinconada, Alhena and Altovalle, Proyecto Codo con Codo, BRED Diocesano de Guadalajara A.C., Proyecto de Gorritos con Causa, Proyecto Labora de Fundación HACE A.C., Proyecto Labora de Fundación HACE A.C., and Proyecto Labora de Fundación HACE A.C. Proyecto de Gorritos con Causa, Proyecto Labora from Fundación HACE A.C. As well as the Guadalajara City Council, in its campaign held from April 23, 2022 to April 22, 2023 in which Guadalajara was named the World Book Capital. International distinction created by UNESCO. This assumes the commitment to promote books and reading as a tool to preserve knowledge, spread culture and promote peace. The donated books were delivered to the City Hall and will be part of the literary mailboxes of the City.

Project promoted by the Social Engagement department and one of the campaigns was in collaboration with the Alumni Society (SAUP).

Donation and Collection

Two massive PET bottle cap collection campaigns were carried out, in which 509 members of the university community participated, collecting a total of 6.5 tons. The collection of PET bottle caps is to support children with cancer of Mi Gran Esperanza A.C. for the purchase of treatments, medicines, medical equipment, among other needs of the Association.

Every semester we will be carrying out this activity so that you can save your PET caps and those of your family members.

Project promoted in collaboration with the Business School, the Departments of Protocol and Social Commitment.

Toy collection campaigns were carried out to benefit different people who are part of Civil Associations, such as Albergue Infantil Los Pinos A.C., among others. Campaigns promoted by the Student Society (SAUP) and the School of Pedagogy.

More than 3,000 towels were donated and used in the gym of the Poliforum Panamericano, to benefit and be reused by the people and families who participate in the different projects of the 25 institutions benefited on this occasion, all of them with agreements in which our students and alumni carry out their social projects of Social Work and Social Service. Campaign promoted in collaboration with the Department of Sports and Social Commitment.

Members of the university community registered with Be The Match México A.C. to become bone marrow donors. One of its main objectives is to increase the registry of potential bone marrow donors, since only 30% of patients have a family member who is fully compatible, leaving the vast majority dependent on the generosity of a stranger.campaign promoted by the Social Commitment department.

The third edition of Cuts with a Cause. On this occasion the Panamerican community managed to collect a total of 255 haircuts. In addition, 206 hair donations were collected, with hair sizes ranging from 10 to 50 centimeters. The hair donations will be added to the initiative "Caps with a cause" to benefit children with cancer. Campaign promoted by the UP Identity department.

These and other campaigns we have had at Panamericana throughout the year. We thank all the members of the university community who have joined in all the campaigns.
