"This experience helped me do it by thinking of others and not myself."

Alejandra Gruest Miranda, a student of Universidad Panamericana, participated in the donation event.

ZAPOPAN, Jalisco; March 03, 2023.- Once again the Universidad Panamericana Campus Guadalajara gave rise to the "Cuts with a Cause" project. This project is an initiative of the Panamerican Life department, whose mission is to support the charitable cause, inciting the university community

The importance of this project lies in sowing charity in the students, who aspire to improve the welfare of those who make up our society. One of the characteristics that distinguishes Panamericana is its humanistic education, which, in addition to its various subjects related to the humanities, social work and this type of volunteer work, are a great tool to sensitize the future professionals of Mexico.

Cuts with a Cause

The basis of the dynamics of this project was to invite the university community to have a haircut, the cost of which varies between 200 and 250 pesos. The amount raised will be given in its entirety to VIFAC A.C., a care center for the necessary tools to improve their quality of life and that of their children.

In addition to this charitable cause, cuts over 10 cm would be donated to children with cancer. Those who managed to donate 30 cm got their haircut for free. For the execution of the event, 18 stylists donated their working day, from 9:30 in the morning to 9:00 at night, to perform the cuts. All proceeds went to support the Civil Association.

Third Edition of the Benefit

On this occasion, the Panamerican community managed to collect a total of 255 haircuts. In addition, 206 hair donations were made, with hair sizes ranging from 10 to 50 centimeters.

In addition to this project, the hair donations will be added to the initiative "beanies with a cause" of Professor Irma Alvarez, whose project consists of making beanies with hair extensions for children with cancer.

Irma Álvarez Rábago, Spark UP Academy Coordinator at Universidad Panamericana, Campus Guadalajara, has collected hair donated by women and men for 17 years and has knitted them into beanies with hair ranging from 10 cm to 20 cm, to improve the self-esteem of girls with cancer.
