Advisory trains advisors in dialogue with coaching

Mexico City, February 20, 2023 - During the last two years, the SMART Center' s Advisory team at Universidad Panamericana has trained more than 70 advisors in coaching competencies to generate dialogue.

With the help of their two mentors, Dr. Alejandro Ordoñez, director of the School of Engineering, and María Fernanda Haro, head of SMART Center Mexico City, Advisory seeks to enable students to engage in a real dialogue with their advisors and feel supported and listened to.

Stages of training

In principle, and in order to facilitate the experience for the consultants, a part of individual study called prework. Subsequently, the face-to-face sessions were resumed from a theoretical and practical approach, which were developed in a controlled environment. In addition to the above, a personalized follow-up with the students was applied during the postwork.

This meeting generated strong support among advisors and allowed the building of relationships between different profiles, which continue to enrich each other.

Core competencies

This training, with curricular value and open to all campus Mexico advisors, is part of the training that makes up the SMART Advisor Diploma.

It is designed to help those interested in identifying two of the core competencies that every coach should know, which were identified as the most relevant to college coaching.

It should also be noted that such training allows the student to participate in the decisions made in counseling, in order to commit to the activities to be carried out in order to achieve their objectives. Such decisions involve a process of reflection that is applicable both at the university stage, as well as in the personal and professional sphere in the future.
