Innovation & Design and Data Science

Dr. Garcia commented that the Innovation and Design Engineering program combines the artistic and creative side of each student with the solidity of engineering: "what we are looking for is for the student to be able to develop new ideas, products and projects in the market, but at the same time to be realistic in order to materialize ideas that are viable/accessible and susceptible to enter a business plan in the right way".

Likewise, the director of the School of Engineering highlighted the richness of Innovation and Design and indicated that "it generates designers who will occupy the new positions of Chief Innovation Officers of the future".

In his turn, Mr. Soberanes said: "the purpose is to train engineers with a high capacity to generate disruption and innovation in industries associated with consumer products and services(...) Through the symbiosis of creative thinking (divergent) with logical thinking (convergent) they reach fresh and timely solutions".

He added that the career has "the vision of design as a means of generating value, that is, desirability; engineering as a means for the materialization and systematization of value, that is, feasibility, and innovation as a means of delivering value, which corresponds to viability".

Industrial Engineering Program

In his message about Industrial Engineering, our rector explained that the career "responds to the current demand of the global supply chain, which is undergoing a transformation and requires its professionals to have tools that allow them to dialogue with data science".

Dr. Ordóñez pointed out that the new curriculum of the relaunched program takes advantage of technologies to make better business decisions.

GUIBSA is an automatic pill dispenser with an alarm that provides accompaniment and security to the elderly. The team explains that the objective of the project "is to make it easier to take medication in a timely manner, since the average senior takes more than five different pills a day and at different times, a complex and error-prone task".

On the other hand, Begoña García Canteli, Ana Cristina Tames Bravo, and Jimena Zepeda Ocañas, from the All beautyteam are International winners of the L'Oréal Brandstorm 2022. The objective of the contest was to propose an innovation to make a positive change in the world of beauty in an impactful and creative way .

This is how they created Stable, aimed at people with motor disabilities. It is a line of eye makeup that includes a mascara, an eyeliner and an eye shadow brush, together with a base that serves as a support and simulates a stable hand so that the user can recreate any look with head movements.

"The biggest challenge in this project was finding a way to positively impact the lives of the people it is aimed at," they stated.

The Panamericana School of Engineering seeks to train students who, through entrepreneurship, leadership, ethical commitment and a Christian worldview, give back and have a positive impact on society.
