An Agreement with an Eye to the Future: Universidad Panamericana and Notre Dame University

On May 23, 2022 , eight students and two chaperones from the University of Notre Dame visited Panamericana's Guadalajara campus to take the "Business Ethics and Political Environment in Mexico" program , which arose at the request of a colleague from the Mendoza College of Business who asked our school to design an exclusive course for his outstanding students and the Business Honors Program.

The program included theoretical sessions and an important practical component, as the students solved challenges posed by the company Tequila Arette. For the kick-off, the Consul General of the United States in Guadalajara, Dr. Eliza F. Al-Laham, participated in the program and stated the following:

"Having this program between the University of Notre Dame and UP is evidence of the shared relationship between Mexico and the United States. Our priority is to increase the number of Mexican students studying in the United States, as well as to increase the number of U.S. students studying in Mexico."

Ellen Frantz, a Notre Dame student, said she felt "proud to be in Guadalajara and to learn about its culture. She also said, "everyone has been very welcoming and I can't wait to experience the rest of the week.

In addition to the visit of the eight foreign students, in the second and third week of June, a group of approximately 20 students from Panamericana's School of Business will travel to the University of Notre Dame for their International Week.

All this thanks to the agreement between the two institutions, which allows for dialogue and exploration of ways of collaboration, as well as facilitating student mobility.

The current agreement was signed in 2019 for three years, specifically allowing for the following lines: visiting and having informal meetings between professors and authorities to meet colleagues; exploring ways to collaborate in graduate education; organizing joint conferences and meetings of mutual interest; exchanging academic materials and information; exploring possibilities for collaboration in student mobility, conducting joint programs and collaborating on research topics.

It is worth mentioning that Dr. José Alberto Ross, a professor at Panamericana, participated in the ACTC Core Curriculum conference last April at Notre Dame to adopt the methodology in the Humanities Institute. In addition, the School of Philosophy and the Humanities Institute initiated a project incubator with Notre Dame's Philosophy Department. The first activity was a presentation by Dr. Ross last November.

The Universidad Panamericana is confident that, as a result of this evolving partnership, the alliance will progress over the years, promoting a new perspective on the world for students as they cultivate new international knowledge.
