March 22, 2023.— The Mission and Spirit Series (CiME) is an ongoing training program on mission and spirit topics aimed at all staff and collaborators at the Aguascalientes campus of the Universidad Panamericana , with the goal of aligning the institution’s vision, mission, spirit, and identity. This semester marks the third edition of the program , which took place every week in March.
CiME
At the initiative of Rector Dr. Gabriel Domínguez García Villalobos and with the support of the Institutional Communications team led by Francisco García Pimentel, M.A., director of Institutional Communications at the Aguascalientes campus, the CiME is held every semester; Dr. Gabriel determines the topics to be discussed.
The first year this event was held, the focus was on communication and identity, with the goal of helping the entire administrative community at the institution communicate more effectively; the second year, the focus was on work systems, the 5 S’s of productivity, and so on; and this year, the main theme was family.
“In one way or another, we’re all always swamped with work and rushing around, so it’s good to take a break every once in a while to talk about the things that give the Universidad Panamericanaits personality and unique characteristics,” says Francisco García Pimentel.
Speakers
This program fully involves all University staff members—from the president down to the most junior operations staff member—so that everyone can participate together and attend the same lectures in the same space; each semester, four speakers are invited to give lectures organized around four thematic areas.
“The results of this CiME cycle are evident in the hallways and among the staff—people are doing their jobs better, and they feel more connected to their personal projects and the mission of the Universidad Panamericana,” he adds.
During the first session on March 1, Dr. Gabriel Domínguez García Villalobos delivered a lecture titled “Why the Family?” In this session, he discussed the topic of the family in broad terms and explained why the UP always stands on the side of the family in the social equation.
The second session featured the lecture “Family: A Cultural Battle, a Spiritual Battle,” presented by Rubén Darío Gómez Arnaiz on March 8. He addressed the challenges facing the family in the modern world.
During the third session on March 15, Mtra. Daniela Farah was the guest speaker. She presented on the topic of “Image and Personal Branding,” a topic that is highly relevant today given the current focus on personal image and style—especially since many universities no longer enforce a dress code, and UP is no exception.
Finally, to bring this semester’s series to a close, Ignacio Cervantes, M.A., presented the lecture “He and She: Rewriting the Code of Love,” aimed at couples and married couples, in which he discussed the importance of teamwork.
