Advisory provides Tools for University Counseling

Mexico City, December 11, 2023.- During January of this year, Advisory, from the SMART Center of the Universidad Panamericanaannounced the launch of the training Tools for University Counseling.

The program was created with the objective of strengthening the advisors, taking into account the particularities of university students, in order to foster a dialogue that adjusts to the interests and needs of the students. So far, it has had a positive impact on approximately 50 mentors and it is expected that in the long term most of the advisors at the CDMX campus will join the program.

About the program

Tools for College Counseling focuses on providing mentors with a broader perspective on the various particularities that distinguish mentees throughout their college career. The goal: to foster a close and effective dialogue between mentor and mentee.

A key component of this training is the reinforcement of the use of the DPI, a test that Panamericana students take upon entering the undergraduate program. So the course, beyond providing a career-appropriate orientation, delves deeper into each student's profile to provide a personalized approach aimed at success.

A comprehensive approach

The central premise of the training is to know the character and personality of each student. This allows the counselors to work closely with the students, giving them the necessary impulse to reach their best version.

To achieve the objective, the initiative was not limited to theory, but included practical dynamics that provided participants with in-depth self-knowledge through a blended model inwhich consultants take part of the course on the moodle platform and another part in an online or face-to-face format, depending on their schedules.

By identifying areas of opportunity and personal strengths, counselors can implement more effective strategies when guiding students.

At the end of the training, the expected competencies for the future were presented, according to studies by one of the largest consulting firms, which provide guidelines to guide students and generate with them a path of competency development, aligned with the demands of today's working world.
